    Router.

Its is only an add on, not a vital part. With the Reliability of the inernet and ISPs you cant guarantee the client that it will always work properly, hence cannot be an actual part of the security system, just a toy Thats why local recording is important, otherwise its not a security system. And ofcourse you need to protect that local recorder also.
  2. There are many, but they tend to only sell to large distributors and OEMs. Avtech, Active-Tek, Sunnell ... etc. But if you want a feature rich RTOS DVR then its going to cost much more than those ...

Swann 9 Channel DVR and Multiplexer

http://www.avtech.com.tw/english/product_13_776w.htm this is the manufacturer .. It is multiplexed so yes, it will be a multiplexed (jumpy) recording. Its 25pps / 9 = 2.7 ... pps per camera - Real Time is 30pps. But its good for the price. If you want real time or close to real time, you will be spending much more $$ ... Its a low end product, good for those home or budget retail installs. this is the one im using for those jobs, its not much more.. http://www.avtech.com.tw/english/product_13_777w.htm

    Router.

A Router is not a part of a security system. But D Link and Linksys are the same price down here.
  5. Why??? 12 v power supplies come with alot of bullet and dome cameras, and if not, they are so cheap - i'd keep it seperate. Best is a Regulated Fused output. Remember we are talking security systems.
  6. anyone got a source for high res CCTV 500TVL LCD Monitors like 15" and 20", other than the kalatel .. and tested? thanks rory

    old beer

im tired of buying old beer here darnit!!!!!!!! i bought sum tonight (bud) & had to pick out the 2005 beers, as they had more from nov 2004! Actually I got mostly Jan 25, 2005, but then some Jan 06, 2005, which tastes totally different! Arghhhh A week or so ago I bought some and they were from as far back as July 2004!!! They were BUD LIGHT though, guess bahamians dont drink them much .. i sure didnt, i just threw them out .. I only went to the same store again as it was the only one open after 9pm ....on the whole island ..besides a couple bars in the heart of the ghetto .. though it is still in a crack hoe area .. in other words if yah dont buy beer before 9pm you stand the chance of getting dirty old beer, and stale ciggarettes also!! Just had to drive to a gas station and spend another $5 for another pack of ciggarettes as the one I got from that liquor store was stale ...!!! well 12.20 cant buy any beer now other than a night club now... im just choking on this old beer for now .. darnit, kindof burns your lip as its so stale! Oh yeah, 8 Bud Bottles here costs $20 and a pack of cigs is $5 .... Dont ask me about a case as I cant afford that price .. $20 for 8 buds is their "special" price! Thats pretty much all over the island .. cheapest I have got is $18 but thats only open til 9pm.. Welcome to da Bahamas Mon!

    DVR's for Casino Usage

Yeah they do have some good specs. Actually their Wide Dynamic Camera uses the same technoloy as GE's Ultraview and others (pixem). Id actually like to find out if they are cheaper, as the GE wide Dynamic (and other WDs) are just too pricey for what the cameras actually do ..ive used it 3 times too many! If you have any image clips please post them .. thanks Im juts not that impressed with WD cameras yet .. a good camera outside and 1 indoors can get a better image and cover more .. if yah know what i mean .. or maybe its just GE .. ive stopped using their WD cam for now .. dont know GEO but take out the card and see if it still does it ..if it does, then its not GEO, if it doesnt, then it is GEO and the Drivers /compatability issues with other hardware/software.

    DVR's for Casino Usage

I see 128 channels on their web site. Never heard of them though. for a high security risk as a casino they probably will need some time to evolve before the casinos start using them. Pretty impressive specs though, except the DVR looks like any other cheap PC. 1000 cameras on a single screen .. dont think they will want that!

    DVR's for Casino Usage

Its not how many cameras you can add, it is how good the network software is. 1 single IP for 60,000 cameras?? That doesnt make sense.. nor would it work very well on a local network. The Idea of an IP system (or NVR) is to plug in video servers where you need them, each server/camera will have a unique IP. The software at the main remote station is where the storage devices are, and the software is what does the work. Without good software it is useless. JVC is not exactly the best out their when it comes to IP, or CCTV for that matter.

    Multimonitor DVR client view

i wouldt say overpriced on the stand alones, depends if it is linux, embedded XP, nucleous, or other. You can get cheap stand alones that will be cheaper than building a PC based .. really depends if you want stability and less maintenance, or more features and lower priced . each client can be different. anyway, off that subject .. if he wants to view all 3 stores, on the same remote station, but 1 store per monitor, then all he needs is a 3 way video card, and run 3 instances of the software and each one will connect seperately. You can simply posistion each instance of the software into which monitor you want it to show in. Ofcourse you will need a fast PC for sure, and a good high speed connection. Rory

    DVR multiple streams

As far as I know its still multiplexed, but this also depends on the DVR and the way in which it records, PC OS or RTOS, etc. Multiplexed is just switching between each camera very fast. Possibly the reason PC based can get more real time is due to the processing Speeds of a PC OS compared to the much slower RTOS processors. Rory

    Bosch "NightSense"

Okay now i understand - put me in a corner already! Q1. what is the f:stop on those lenses? Q2. Do you have a spec sheet on the cameras? I dont think they can see 900nm range - which means you will need to get the WizKid IR in 800nm range. Q3. What Kind of lighting is involved in the Dome location? Are we talking color only? I know you said day night, but you also said you want the color of the car..in that case an exview is your best choice. BUT, exview is not easily found in domes, except the PROVIDEO domes. Ajny dome will do once it has low enough lux level. What are the bosch Dome's lux level rated at? Samsung Techwin for sure has one that will do this, but I havent tested it yet, nor anyone I know ... maybe soon. Also. What kind of field of view do you need for the dome camera? And do you have a budget on the dome? What is the Dome looking at (application)? Forgive me if you already asked this im a little behind on this thread! You mentioned "telephoto" .. from how far do you need to start seing, and how wide? For example, I will be using a 5-50mm lens on a day night box camera, set at 16mm, to cover gas pumps at a distance of approx 40' away (give or rake its out of my head right now), to see a width of 20-30'. I used my view finder to get the exact lens but im using a 5-50 in case they ever upgrade and add more cameras. Also, in a retail store, I have a 2.5-12mm lens, set at 10mm, and that is zoomed in on a front door. The FOV is only approx 15' away, and that is 10mm. Its nice and crisp though. Rory
