yeah with our cable here, we get the same up and down (actually around 400KB, paying for 512KB basic business account $150 per month), with DSL, its alot less up so we cant use DSL for video here, I tried already and it was so slow. We have to pay $490 a month to get the same speed up as cable has!

yeah sorry, you will only see it as fast as it can be viewed locally, at least on a stand alone. I cant tell you for GOEVISIOn, DVR aus or AVConsult may be able to help you there. In other words, it doesnt matter what speed I am recording at, I will see it as fast as the multiplexer puts it out, over the the network. The less cameras the less bandwidth so the faster it is. Normally has nothing to do with recording though, but PC based cards may be differnent.

you dont get any FPS/PPS, you get what the connection gives you. Ok, Our 512KB Cable Connection looks like around 2.5-10pps, depending on time of day. Rory

over the internet, you will get as fast as your internet connection is. Recording PPS/FPS has nothing to do with what you see across the internet.

    cameras

Even Sony is not as good as prople think they are. But no, the difference is the no names have infurior power boards, and less tech support and less warranty. You will get a better picture from a True Sony camera, normally, but not just that, the Sony will 'generally' last longer. However they have a good name, but there are other brands that have a better selection and better cameras, than them. They have some sweet Camcorders though! )
  7. I keep logiong on at night! Anyway, does Geovison have Playback software or is that only for the local connection? Rory

check out the 10pps retail shockwave example here its a recording of recorded video play back, over the internet, so it is not as good quality as local playback, but it will give you an idea of the speed. 5pps is about the same speed, I recently switched from 10pps to 5pps to get 28 days recording, and its fine. Most people only record at 1pps or less, so 5pps is plenty! BAck in the day, most people only used switchers which sequenced between cameras, and recorded to tape at 1pps or less, imaging that quality! http://www.bahamassecurity.com/ms/shockwave.asp
  9. depends on your cable account, certain times of the say there may be bottle necks even with a 1.8MB account using Cable, where DSL would not.. DSL is way too expensive down here, and is slower than cable for the basic accounts. But its different in every country and state. I just took alook at the speed, it isvery fast. However I have businesses here on 512KB Cable connection and they are fine, not as fast as that but you can see everything good. One is a nightclub. This is only the speed for remote viewing anyway, its still recording at the location. Rory
  10. any idea how much that TIVT one costs? Thanks Rory
  11. anyone seen anythng like this, Im looking for a low end system, for homes or ghetto retail businesses, and I dont want to put a computer in them. I dont want to use Everfocus as its too cheap and no support, as are most of those cheap all in ones. This one I would mount like an alarm panel, say in a closet. Thanks Rory
  12. the 600 should do what you need, thats 5pps per camera, which is fine. Rory
  13. thats some good prices, i may just get one for my own 2 cameras!
  14. make them give you their software control so you can make your own software, or send me it and Ill make it for you. Rory
  15. 1-Tick the notify me when a reply is posted box when replying or posting. 2-ME is still be the best, alot better than the XP they came out with. XP was made for lazy computer techs, or beginners, for easy set up and installation of software drivers, and for people that wanted a 'pretty' operating system. I have XP and ME running on the same 2 new systems, and ME runs 50% faster. Yes it crashes once in a while, but ill take that over a slower OS like XP, and XP gives errors alot also. 2000 is the inly one Ive seen that gives no or less errors. Anyone making software will test on all OS's, ME, 2000, XP, and some 98. There are still millions of users using ME. XP uses more memory and CPU speed, and if you have naything under 1Ghz, you will be dragging. Ill spin my opinion here again, windows 95 is the fastest OS yet no longer supported (nor works on most hardware anymore), and MS were idiots to ever upgrade. Nowadays XP needs 30 hotfixes to run properly, ME, none. 3-Im not going to my XP version to test 'that' site, I need a fast system and my personal web server is running on windows ME also. Rory
  16. yeah, probably not, their web site is set to 1000x768 as it is, which is not normal, so they probably wrote the software only for their size of resolution, or technology, so they probably never tested on any other OSs. Thats why I like Microsoft, Nortons, Adobe, all the big guys, they test theur software on more than one OS! ) That includes Kalatel, which works on windows 95 also! (yes i tested it once on windows 95 i loaded on my PC for a 'few minites'! Had to do some updates as with windows 98 also, winme, xp, 2000, no updates required.) PS. I test mine also on more than one OS, and more htan one PC. learnt the hard & long way with web development, that you cant just have your program working on one OS or browser.
  17. i tried everything, I just get a mixture of video like a fishtank, a warehouse, etc, comingand going with all kind of fuzzy stuff. And it would freeeze up windows on and off, making everything else run very very slow. Maybe I need a faster computer! :-0 (I have 2.2Ghz) Maybe it only works on windows XP?? Im using windows ME, and I know I dont have the latest direct X installed.

    shooting and cameras

no they just dont learn, you can kill all the cirminals but they keep coming back. But this was a gang initiation that was going on fpor a while, there were other rapes, stolen cars ,ect, all 18/19 year olds from the same area that is not too far away. The guy that was killed was only 18, his accompliss was caught on Wednesday by Police and is only 17! I guess they aught him beacseu he had also been shot by shotgun pellets which ditnt kill but do leave a heck of a mark!
  19. http://bahamasb2b.com/news/wmview.php?ArtID=3314 http://www.thenassauguardian.com/national_local/291625619191830.php My coleague lives just behind the house that this happpened at, same little suposedly crime free area, as everyone has shotguns, and most criminals know it. Ofcourse guns are illegal here in this country, and law sais if you do have alicence for hunting rifle (only legal for pigion shooting), you can only shoot a person if they are inside your house in self defence, these guys gunned down the rapist in the middle of the street! Though he was lunging at them, and bit off the maids finger who he was raping, and some people say one of the 2 raposts had a gun, never found though! Will wait to see what happens. Law here is totally different from the US. If you even point a gun at someone in the street, even in self defence, thats 10 years in prison, plus 6 months for every bullet in the gun! We're putting up cameras on his street, and hoping to get the job to put them up all around the area, which is about 1 mile by 1/2mile, 1 main road that circles around and has like 8 side streets. Should be intereststing if we do the job.
  20. Id agree, not use it for watching garbage cans, unless you are rich and have some very expensive cancs.!
  21. because you get a better picture from seperate cameras, than 1 camera doing dual functions. In other words, if you really wanted to see at night only, and get the best picture at night possible, get a low light BW camera, and use a IR Bulb/LED for pitch dark. if you wanted the best picture during the day, get a high lux color camera, as you arent concerned with low light.
  22. They are their own technology (LRX), best Ive seen, outperforms Sony, and anyone else, the best color camera, and overall day night camera, ive tested alot of them, and this one is great. They also use it at US airforce bases, UN bases, duing the last war in IRaq & Afganistan (with the wireless packs), and movie stars use them all over hollywood at their homes. They have them all over london now also, maybe not this model, but the brand Extreme CCTV. But yes, $1250 US, so not cheap, then again, its 2 cameras, plus IR LEDs, so its really not an outrages price considering most high res color cameras with varifocal AI lens can cost $300, BW cost $200, 150' IR costing $600, all in one with built in fan, suregprotection, photcell, and more.
  23. The Bluenet is the problem. Goevision I never had any problems with when i tested that. And here is the REAL extreme day night camera: http://www.extremecctv.com/products/index.cfm?img=2
  24. yes bandwidth is when it is accessed over a network.
  25. Except the morons dont know how to 'design' software they have their appl set to too wide, 1000+ resolution, when most people are using 800. And their is something wrong with the viewr,i t is all messed uop, cant see any video properly, keeps freezing up the browser & OS also. Just from that, Id stay far away from it. Trust me its not my PC, ive just tested about 20 other browser/windows beased video softwares here over the past few days. ROry
