I tend to agree with that last message you will wear out the bands in the ptz.... if not reaching a high enough vertical plane is your issue then use a PTZ head and mount a standard camera on it, then you can mount the camera with modification to suit your angle?

There are indeed two sizes...but dangerously differing thread lengths...IE you keep turning the thread until it is in focus, but long shafted threads can easly be turned to far and scratch the CCD..so be carefull and measure how far you are threading

Guys its been a while... I am port forwarding a Geo box...I have port forwarded 90 and 91 (two dvr's and I changed the ports on the dvr) and can get the page to load remotely, but password isnt working, I know its the right password, because I can use that password via logmein to access the DVR settings. So do you need to forward 4550 and 5550 as well (is there a password return or something) or could it be the way it was forwarded..I think only incoming was forwarded, so is there a return of password IE do you need incoming and outgoing to be forwarded on port 90 and 91. So currently I have port 90 forwarding inbound to 10.x.x.220 and port 91 forwarding inbound to 10.x.x.221 I have set 10.x.x.220 ports as 90 for HTTP, + 4550 and 5550 but have only forwarded inbound 90 thus far I have set 10.x.x.221 ports as 91 for HTTP + 4551 and 5551 but have only forwarded inbound 91 thus far. Can anyone give me some ideas?

I think the data port is a return path for pawword verification...but not sure

To test just plug your output from the register assuming serial, straight into a geo dvr...without the capture box (you actually dont need it with 1 x input)!

Some cameras these days actually have amplification settings built in and they measure the impedance on the run and auto adjust...I still use Coax...but perhaps I am old fashioned, I also do not like the skew affect. If I havea long run I simply use a camera with built in amplification and ...no worries on Coax

The D/N tag is not always just about letting the IR wavelength in and correctly showing on the CCD, quite often the D/N range from some manufactorers have better elements...More Elements means better light transmission...however more elements means more expense. The most important thing about the lense is its T Factor....IE it's ability to Transmit the wavelength without loss...grounding proceduces and quality of glass greatly reduces the abhorations that are commonly found on cheaper quality lenses, these abhorations afect the abilty to properflly focus the wavelengths to maximum effect

Try changing the slot for the Geo card, to not the first or the last PCI slot...also disable anythign or physically remove anyhting that is PCI that you dont need!

Just a point, a lot of mechanical filters when removed change the view, becasue the distance from filter, lens to ccd is now different. I do not want o look like a Bosch rep again, but you dont need any ND filters for the Bosch cams which is pretty cool, you dont need to adjust the iris or anything for back focus, simply adjust into back focus mode and the picture stays the same

I am pretty sure it can be disabled or enabled, the smart thing to do is use a PC inside their network with Putty running on it, you then VPN in and it is secure...of course there are more complicated and more secure set ups, but this is a bare minimum

You can also use Putty....this way you can change it remotely...I too wondered about that...but wsa told it was for security purposes...so that unless your in the lock room you cant take it off line

Yes but if the boot procedure is to look for a HDD serial, then this culd be the problem, try halting the boot (if the drive still partly works, and then insert the ghosted drive)

I could be way off the mark here, but it might be looking for the DVr serial in order to boot, the XBOX does this as well

You may want to make sure that power driving the HDD's is ok, if you have added fans, have you reduced the thoroughput, have you integrated faster spin drives than your PSU is rated for...iE some standalones dont have enough power to drive larger faster spin HDD's this could lead to data corruption. The SV drive range from Seagate is designed for Video DVR Recordings, we have found these to be excellent

There are also plenty of wall arm brackets that hide cabling as well

Has anyone seen the Bosch knock offs' so funny, they look identical...even the Geo cams now look like Bosch

Some cams have inbuilt camera amplification, I know the XF lets you set cable compensation allowing for much longer runs, and is a lot less messy than using an actual amp, it sends a signal up the coax to measure the impedance and then automatically balances it back to 75

LTC0495, is about the best low light cam I have seen, you can recess these into dome housings

There are plenty around..especially here in Oz, but I have found that anything with inbuilt IR is usually fairly ordinary, I agree that a true day/night and better lighting is always better than inbuilt IR
