    Magic Radar DVR Card

I cant tell you..the truth is it depends on your ISP, mine has little traffic on its pipes, not many people in Australia have broadband, therefore the pipes arent clogged yet. I would imagine you would get a 25FPS speed on one camera @ 320x240 over the net with 128UP quite easily, but I am not there so I can not tell you!

Can somebody give me a rock bottom price on Geovision GV-250

There are now some generic MPEG4 ones but compression chips are usaully proprietry to the manufactorer, I think this is why Geo released it's own codec, I think they will go to standalone and proprietry chip

new Geovision GV-250 card for $75 ... is that a good deal??

I think you just answered your own question.... Their marketing sucks.. dude if your not happy to apy for the development then buy a card that has free development, super cheap, but you will spend your next 10 yrs of your life trying hard to update the software.. that is why we all use Geo, when they start to charge for software improvements they will lose everyone, I fonly they sold a standalone with Geo features

Can somebody give me a rock bottom price on Geovision GV-250

no they don't.. all Geo's and infact all DVr products other than hardware onboard compression chips only do fast frame rates at smaller res. Geo's specs are for only 320x240 sized resolutions

We are planning to go to the Korea show this month so I will let you know what I see there. I would be forever in your debt if you find a better product for me.

new Geovision GV-250 card for $75 ... is that a good deal??

I even designed a decent looking GUI for them but they weren't interested and yest the cards cost around $30 US (guessing) but your not paying for the card.
  12. It is just an update! You can not get the software without the card

    ICQ

It would be great to be able to pick peoples brains live and use ICQ to do it, it means we would not post silly posts on here and could easily speak privately. Anyone who wants to download it http://www.icq.com

    Magic Radar DVR Card

I did some testing too, not a lot ind you, been very busy of late, it would seem we were both correct, the system can stream prior to compression but is limited to the actual capture of the chip, however the software scales down the actual frame rate, therefore it is pretty fast. I have connected a few sites on 128K and they seem pretty fast mind you my ISP is pretty good, the secret is to pay more and not get onto an ISP that has too many clients, therefore you get faster speeds. In short the faster the capture the higher the broadcast speed available and although it differs in every country I manage to get around 14fps on 8 cameras on a GV800 at 128K which is more than ample. One thing to note, Geo has a cool bandwidth feature where you can adjust the packet size allowing you to stream much faster at a loss of picture quality, to be honest if you need more than 14Fps your into something pretty serious not just racoons and bears.

    Magic Radar DVR Card

Poop My post did not go up...... in short the best picture quality is decided by two things RESOLUTION and COMPRESSION. Standalones compress less on average therefore have better picture quality but require many more HDD's therefore are much more expensive... Resolution is limited on PC because of the PCI bus and CPU power however the latest proprietry onboard compression cards do full resolutions, to be honest larger resolutions in Digatal arent really needed and therefore are not as popular because they take up too much space.... In short they are both similar and it depends on the product, most 878 chips will only do 640x480 sized recordings.

Can somebody give me a rock bottom price on Geovision GV-250

Giddy up!!!! The DSP provides better picture quality and a second output without GUI and if it were a 16 cam system you would have more need than a 4 ch system which would be 25FPS ONLY at 320x240 not at 640x480.....cmon Hermin you know you want me!!!

Can Geovision software or ANY software do this??

you could do that, but it would work like this, closure of a circuit...detector or PE beam can email you make audible alert or activate any device through 485 or the other way around.. Software motion detection can activate anything as well.

Can somebody give me a rock bottom price on Geovision GV-250

DSP OVERLAY The Geovision system allows for the additional purchase of the "Real TIme Card" or GVDSP, this card allows for a full 400fps live display. The DSP card will make the Geovision viewing screen appear just like an analogue Multiplexor, without missing a single frame. When watching a television broadcast the viewable frame rate is faster than 25fps, this means that you will not see any lag or skipping of frames, in laymens terms this means that the person walking past a camera will be viewed in the same way that an anlogue CCTV monitor would view a direct input from a camera, therfore there will be no staggered affect of movement. The DSP also allows for a composite 75OHM output, this means that the signal sent form the DSP card to second monitor (spot monitor) will be a balanced 75OHM signal and will display in a Multiplexed format. The advantages of this kind of output are many, by using the Multiplexed DSP output you will not see the GUI (Graphical User Interface) of the Geovision system on the second monitor. Without the Graphical Interface the second montior will display exactly like an analogue multiplexor and will not miss a single frame, any changes made to the layout of the cameras on the Main system will be represented on the second monitor minus the GUI interface. Because the DSP card is independant of the PC video card it can generate a signal that is not digitised, this means that the signal can run for a longer distance and because the signal is a direct overlay any DVR system with this card inserted will display a resoundingly better viewable picture quality (up to 40% improvement depending on resolution of cameras used). SUMMARY The DSP overlay card is designed to allow the user to feel that they are operating an Analogue device and provides higher than normal quality images for live display without replicating password settings or GUI interface on the second monitor.
