    Magic Radar DVR Card

I havent had to test it because we usually only do Fast FPS machines, but the only advantage of having the 100FPS Card over the 16FPS card is that recording on site will be faster and downloading previously recorded info would look much jerkier on a 16Fps machine, but for live viewing remotely it makes no difference ( I havent tested this theory because I always use fast cards).

NO! What it means that you will capture only at the speed rating of your card, however video transmition will be as fast as your internet can handle as it is not limited to the capture rate, therefore you will get as many frames as you can fit into your bandwidth. For example you will only get as fast as your slowest traffic, there are two speeds, an Up and a Downspeed, when you stream out it is an UP speed and when you download at the other end it is a Down speed, therefore if you stream at 128k and download at 1500k then you will still only get 128k speed as the upload can only handle that and if you were to UP at 256k and download at 128k then you would still only get 128k but if you were to UP at 500k and DOWN at 1500k then you would get 500k speed. Every country is different and it depends on how many cameras you watch at one time but cable should get you a lot faster than that becuase I would imagine cable is above 1500k Down but the Up is probably only 256k If you want log into mine we are 256 UP and 1500 down but remember it will be slower because I am not close to you, so probably double my results. Here is instructions on how to log in http://www.altechvision.com.au/WebVeiw.pdf

Capturing Frame Rate, is different to streaming frame rate, to be honest I have never checked but I feel certain that the only limit to the frame rate for transmition is the Bandwidth that you have (how fast your connection is). therefore buying a 250 for transmition purposes is the same as a 100 series and only the capture rate will change

    Geovision webcam window

All the upgrades for Geovision are free, that is why it is so popular, there are better performance cards out there especially the onboard compression type, but for bang for bucks, it is hard to go past Geovision, mind you their marketing sucks.

Not bad, however with a modem (pstn) and pos 2x com ports, you may have been better off with the USB option

No the rep that visted us was a Mr Toyota we have been buying of him for some time now, the LCH series are obsolete now, we are trying very hard to get a credit account with them so that we can hold more stock, we run out far too fast, however our Korean gear sells a lot more because of price. Ganz are great, fantastic products, the only problem is that development is done in different areas so now the new exciting Day Night dome camera is manufactored in Korea which does not sound as impressive. your right about the lenses, I should have been clearer, we have a bundle of 3.5 to 8mm auto iris video drive lenses that we are selling off at $50 Australian which I think is about $30 US. Very hard to get rid of. If you speak to Ganz there tell them we are very happy and we hope to do more business with japan if we can get credit.

    Finally

Not many manufactorers will do that, there are two options, you can usualy ask them to refund a payment made for a sample and send it back, however it usually costs too much in freight, which is why i have so many other brands of cards in my wharehouse. The second option is to cheat, this only works if someone else is already distributing in your country and they would probably offer the same thing, this way you get to test it locally before paying too much to freight it, this will also work with surrounding countries. I hope this helps

    Finally

In regards to choosing between retail and Wholesale here are some tips. I started doing reatail (while the margin was good) and it was great, until the market became competitive and I had done so many reatail jobs that due to sheer numbers of cameras out there, I was spending 4 out of 5 days doing incidentals, like, moving cameras, replacing items, trianing new staff. It got to a point where I had no time to sell, therefore I switched to wholesale, which again was great and the support was limited, however I started with cheaper products to make a name for myself and get under the other guys prices, this bit me badly, because then I had a whole lot of faulty cameras and support and RA became an issue again, then I switched to only good gear and this made sales harder as it is hard to educate the end user the difference between say, two 480 TV Line cameras. The market also got very competitive and prices dropped, we had some issues with faults on the DVR boards too that cost us an arm and a leg with advanced replacements. Now I have another problem, my manufactorers have very stiff competition now that they did not have before, so now they feel that they need to to sell to anyone they can, for example, Geo whiped all of its exclusive distributors deliberatly, so they could sell direct and they also want as many people to see the product because they intend on listing their company on the stock exchange. We have only one trade event here in Australia and now they will be having a stand there of their own, right next to us, needless to say we are not impressed and this is why I will shift to Standalones. Like I said there are pot holes for Retail and for Distribution, however I truley think there will be very few PCI cards in the next 6 months and many more standalones and because these are fairly maintenance free, wholsale should require less support and therefore more people will do it. I think Retail has a longer life span than Wholesale but I am not going to switch just yet.

Give that man a cigar!! To be honest Pano is small here so I was very surprised and I had honestly no idea Ganz was so big, we just had the head office from japan visit us so I found out only now, they are starting to frustrate us a little though because each country has own office and develop own products, so I have to wait for ages for products say designed in germany, like the thermal gear, can take months and to order something they want to sell you, then they may have to get it first, so can become very time consuming excersise. BTW, I am going to clear a whole bunch of old stock after I do stock take, have some older Ganz cams that would be very cheap if anyone interested?

    frame rates

Nice points TH One thing to note though is that many manufactorers already provide proprietry onboard video compression, taking the load away from the CPU, but they are too expensive at this stage, and try explaining THAT to the end user!

    explain a little?

Spot On Mr AV as usual.. One thing to mention though, you can purchase lenses for either 1/4 or 1/3" so make sure you purchse the lens that fits your CCD size... cheaper cameras may not have adjutments because the guts inside do the work, I am not really sure how, maybe AV can shed some light (pardon the punn), however my understanding is that the voltage adjustment makes for opening or closing of the Iris, you can still get a lot of video drive lenses but most are used to replace old ones as the DC is the new format. Using the DC level can also be very usefull to get a correct back focus. I think you will see that a lot of camera companies will shift to built in lenses as the popularity of easily installed cameras with say 2 to 10 mm lenses grows. I know that Ganz (2nd biggest camera seller in the world) has made a lot of these type of late for this reason, I even got one of their day/night dome cameras with built in 2 to 10mm lens and CS mount guts, nice peice of kit... anyone bar AV guess who is the only one that sells more than Ganz?
