Router: Motorola NVG589 (AT&T Uverse)Last time I worked with this Router, ATT had to do the port forwarding for me, as it was locked out so the user could not do it by themself.

I would like to be emailed when my cameras go offline, is there an option for this? I have gone into the Hikvision Set Up -- Configuration -- Exception... then used the drop down to go to "Network Disconnected"
When I do this, the options for SEND Email are grayed out. The only thing I can select is Other Linkage, then Trigger Alarm Output.
Is there anyway I can get an email send to me when my IP Camera Network Goes Down?
Thanks

I have 2 dahua NVR bought separately at different times. When I enable the Alarm Output of the IPC OFFLINE ALARM menu bar in the ALARM section and connected it to GSM dialer. I always get SMS alerts or calls at 1:41 and 1.44 AM.. Anyone has idea where the 1:41 and 1:44AM coming from?maybe set to nightly reset at those times?

Which Dahua camera is that? Looks great

I'm generally not a fan of NVR's, but the Dahua NVR is pretty decent. The web interface is pretty good and works with other brands of cameras, like Hikvision. I have one and a Hikvision side by side, and Dahua is better.Which Dahua NVR are you talking about? Model?

I am having the same issue.I have Yosemite 10.10.1 and installed the Hikvision plugin from: http://www.hikvision.com/Es/download_more.asp?id=1192
The plugin installs correctly.
When I try to see the cameras with any browser (Firefox, Safari or Chrome) it shows the following error:
"No plug-in detected."
I also tried using the Hikvision Desktop application from:
http://www.hikvision.com/europe/download_more.asp?id=1367
It asked me to install X11 Quartz, which I did. But still can´t see any video.
I must say that everything works perfectly with Android, iOS and Windows. My only issue is with MAC.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks,
-Diego
Works fine in Safari at full frame rate, but cant get this to work in Chrome. I am running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2

Donny,
What route did you choose to go....
-
My budget wont allow for a dedicated Surveillance/ IP Cam unless inexpensive. Power over Ethernet unfortunately is not an option. I only considered the webcam route as it just came to mind and not to my surprise I already see people on youtube posting viable solutions. If you have an inexpensive suggestion for an IP cam do let me know.. Thankspower over ethernet should be an option.
pick up this... and this....
and then add a nice HikVision Camera.. there are a lot of inexpensive options out there...

Maybe try DropCam

Cant wait to see sample video from the new Hik Cams. Looks like a nice cam for the price...

Ok. would u mind laying out some basic steps for me to get this going? I did this months ago, with a different hik camera, and it worked great. Please let me know what I am going wrong...No way to tell you what you are doing wrong if you do not say how you are trying to do it...
ok.. im getting somewhere.... was able to add the serial, but says device is offline. I think this happend last time, but took about 24hrs for it to pop online. What else could be causing this?
EDIT.. im good.. had to log out both and reboot

I dont think you can fill out the DDNS section unless you have gone to hik-online and set up an account first. It says "PArameter Error" and wont let me fill in anything except for the domain. You are not doing it right. Of course you can. If you do not have the DDNS configured for hik-online, it will NOT let you register the device. As I said, it only allows you to register a serial number of a device that is ALREADY connected to hik-online. You can not just go and register any random serial number that might belong to someone else.

This camera is online and working great. I have already added it to iVMS-4200 software on my Mac. Works great, looks great. Just trying to set up outside of my wifi viewing, so wanted to get the hik-online working. For some reason it doesnt want to take my serial number...Again; check the DDNS section. The serial number does not belong to a device connected to hik-online.

"The device serial No. is not registered, please check the input and the device network settings"That means that the device (IP camera, I guess) is not connected to hik-online, so you can not register it. You are only allowed to register devices currently online, so you are not able to register (by mistake or intentionally) a serial number that belongs to someone else.
Is the camera turned on? Does it have internet connection at that moment? Is the network configured correctly on the camera? It needs IP, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS servers. Is the DDNS section on the camera configured correctly to use hik-online? Once the IP camera/serial number is registered with hik-online, you will be able to add the device.

What error message are you geting? I have no problems with hik-online, but I have not added any new device since before christmas."The device serial No. is not registered, please check the input and the device network settings"
I tired the entire serial with the model number, and I also tried just the first, then last 9 digits. nothing seems to be workin..
any ideas

Anyone having problems with the hik-online site. Im trying to add a camera, but no matter what I do, its not accepting the serial number. I have done this before, with chinese version hik, and US version hik, and have never had a problem.
Just wondering if Im doing something wrong, or if the site is acting up?
Any other nice free alternatives to this site, if I cant get this working.
