  1. Product wont be online until the start of the book on the 4th
  2. Im glad you live in a square house. My generally L shaped offset house is a pain in my ass!
  3. Here are the first pictures of the dome. I have a few more but they are blurry so I will retake them. I hooked it up, I don't think it has the issues that the other domes have. Quick info: 4inch dome 3 axis sdcard (not sure if enabled in firmware havnt got that far) has audio and alarm headers but no cables. comes with a bnc cable for plugging in and adjusting. manual focus and zoom comes with both ends of weather proof connector Concerns (maybe some one can clear this up) IR performance compared to the vairfocal bullet, and mini bullet. It seems to have les IR emitters. perhaps they are more powerful? Not sure if I want to mount these to stucco or under eve, If I go under eve I would like them level vs at an angle Comes with some ring that I have no idea what is for (maybe some one can clear that up too.) 4. Costco sells the swann version. Its locked at 2.1MP unless you flash it. but its the same camera
  5. I had that problem until I realized I had the black part of the hood on backwards. Finger prints, oils and the black hood caused my problem
  6. The dome must be spot less clean no finger prints or oils inside and out. I thought the same thing until I cleaned it
  7. The swann is a DS-7616 in different case, The latest firmware for it is V2.3.2 build 130502
  8. Hey I Might need some of these!

Nothing is wrong with the green drive....some day some one will listen, The information I post is fact. and here it is again. Green drives are fine. Low heat, low rpm is perfectly fine. A lot of manufacturers have moved to only making intellipower type drives and not stating the rpm. Additionally They are hardly any slower for sequential I/O. Maybe 10%; something you will never notice. They are slower when it comes to latency/IOps though, but sequential I/O is very good for 5400rpm and 5900rpm drives. Their data density is so high, they even beat 10.000rpm disks with Sequential I/O, even though they only spin half as fast the data density makes up for it. So the preferred medium to store large bulky files on (i.e. dvr), is 5400/5900rpm drive. 7200rpm+ drives are quickly becoming less useful and eventually will disappear. The new WD Green's have at least 1TB platters, so 1-platter for 1.0TB, 2 for 2TB and 3 for 3TB. The speed doesn't increase with the number of platters, but it increases as the data density increases. Thus higher-capacity platters will result in higher sequential I/O. This is why almost damn near everything has been running on 5900 rpm drives. An example of this is WD Red drives the "highly recomended" drives for NAS are identical from a physical stand point as the greens. A couple of tweaks to the firmware, and a new product line was born. Except its the SAME product! For reference the green does park the head quicker than the red drives, other than that there is no difference between the red and green drives. In fact western digital and other manufactuers used to have a utility to adjust the tler timing but they killed it off in the later firmware drives due to it was actually costing them money. Anyway the tler settings wont affect you in this for what you are doing. You're more likely going to get a noisy bearing then have a head crash.

you have more than 90 days on security systems
  11. your upload and download speed doesnt matter. The 8 port nvr is only capible of 40Mbps use a calculator to see the max you can set yoru cameras at
  12. I cant answer your question as for as the values go. However the substream is only used for mobile and local display views (not playback), with that being said the higher you set it the more you are askign out of the system, network connections, the mobile app and its data connection.
  13. I think the secret code word is "please", LOL. Just ask them, sales@wrightwoodsurveilance.com. thx, worth a shot, still debating if i need 2.8mm, vs the 4mm i have by running 3mp, i think my viewing angle might be wide enough, but i am trying to run one indoors for very broad viewing coverage. Im doing the same thing. Thee 2.8 will provide nice wide coverage. Im going to try to use them out side as well vs the 4mm bullets and swann vairfocal, I have the same problem that most have, slanted eves, and wall mounting them has its own issues. the benefits tthe swann has is it is a varifocal, its a 3 axis, and it has SD but at 249 a pop plus tax!!!

  15. " title="Applause" /> That did the trick. You are officially overqualified for a job at Swann or Lorex in Level 2 tech support. Thanks man! I cant speak for lorex support other then I heard it sucks. Swanns support has been decent. With that being said they are not required to help you hook up a camera to a competitors product, nor should they be expected to. With that being said, being in the IT field ,that's usually how it works lol
  16. Ill still want your opinion!
  17. Thank you for clearing up what I said above. I was on the road and didn't have time to type all that, thus my response was useless! LOL
  18. Prolly creating a network loop by going out and trying to come back in
  19. LOL, Thats a valid coupon code right?
  20. Yes bullets, domes, same price at wrightwoodsurveillance.com. the domes are actually 25 bucks more. This is true. I actually sent them an email inquiring about this. I want to order a fair amount of items.
  21. I wonder how these cameras perform compared to the hikvision cameras. I get the impression the rebreanded hikvisions (which can be flashed to 3MP) are a better deal than the dahua rebrands
