Remember that if you disable motion detection on the NVR (uncheck the motion option), that this also disables the motion detection on the camera (it unchecks too). What is your network config page set as? I'm guessing that you don't have a dns server set. The camera firmware has a problem with not using the gateway and dns server sent to it in the dhcp request message. This is fixed in v5.0 firmware. in firmware v4.0 I had to set them myself, set to my router/gateway IP address. See below.

It was v5.0 from the US Hikvision site. Raptor Firmware V5.0.0_130412 It mentions this in the manual.

Partly. For the resolution/frame rate/on screen text, they are. Motion detection is done in the NVR for the most part. The cameras provide a continual stream of video to the NVR, where the NVR records on detecting motion (if enabled), and/or continually. The cameras can also detect motion independently and record to another location such as a NAS device. They can also feed the video stream to software such as Blueiris at the same time as feeding the NVR. I verified that they can operate independently for the most part yesterday, some settings over lap. As long as you know which, you're ok. But you don't ever have to touch the camera software if you don't want to. This is how the system was designed.

I put back a camera to v4.0.9 130106 tonight. I had issues with the NVR and motion detection, caused by the WebComponent ActiveX downloaded from the v5.0 firmware on the camera. I uninstalled the WebComponent then it re-installed it from the NVR. The issue I had was with the motion grid drawing on the NVR, it didn't stick or save. I assume this is caused by a mismatch of firmwares, I think I needed to the update the firmware on the NVR to support the v5.0 on the cameras? Are you still running the Hikvision firmware on the NVR? If so, working ok, no issues? Happy with it? Drawing motion grids on the NVR Camera config screens work, and save?

I think the nvr downloads settings to the camera on power outages and reconnects too. === I played with these settings tonight. They can be independent, mostly. The Enable motion detection, is set via the NVR and also set in the Camera via the NVR. This is ok. The sensitivity is set to 0 in the camera if there isn't a motion grid set in the camera. If there is a grid set in the camera, then the sensitivity that is set in the NVR is set in the camera also. Seems ok.

If you configure the camera via the nvr, doesn't reduce the camera's sensitivity motion settings to 0, in the camera?

yep, that is what it is, the green boxes to help you tune the motion area. It at least lets you know that the motion is being detected, it'd be nice if this was in the NVR.

That is what I was hoping too! I will let you know what I find. As this is only in the camera and not the NVR, it won't mean much either way.

I updated one camera to version 5.0 Hikvision firmware. There is a new option in the software called "Enabled dynamic analysis for motion" It is shown in the v5.0 manual but not explained. Anyone played with this setting yet?

I will be receiving the Lorex branded Hikvision domes this week to add to my system. I will then be able to compare the qualities of both. If the dome works well and not too much IR reflective glare back, I'm going to order a Hikvision branded one with a 12 mm lens.

I haven't tried the snapshot email yet from the NVR. I know that the motion detection settings on the camera are disabled from the NVR settings. The camera motion sensitivity is set to -1, even though the camera motion detection is enabled. Both set to the that from the NVR. How do you have yours configured?

I have two QNAPs and I think I would go with a Synology if I were to buy another. The models you listed one is a 2 drive, the other is a single drive. I recommend going with a minimum of a 2 drive, but a 4 drive is the best. You can expand later on by adding drives.

On the Lorex, you do not have the admin web port forwarded. The Android app works without it. Joey, UPnP is disabled on your nvr ? You just foward port 80, 1025 and 8000 to the nvr ? I dont remember if lorex UPnP was disable by default, but from my router setting lorex was using 1025 as replacement of 554. Yep, disabled upnp. I don't forward port 80 from the NVR, as I don't want that exposed. I read that activex app has security issues too, exposing all passwords. I have the mobile client two ports forwarded manually. In the Android app I specify the one mobile client port. I changed the port numbers on the NVR. I can get the Android phone app to work, but NOT the Android tablet app. I'm checking to see if the Android tablet app requires the default port numbers and no other. I will check that later. The same issue exists on the Lorex tablet app and the Hikvision tablet app. I can use both the Lorex phone app and the Hikvision phone app, no problem. I can't get the Swann app to work at all.

If you disable UPNP on your NVR, then you need to manually forward your ports on your router. As an example, I would open up port 560 on my router and forward it to port 80 on my NVR's address of 192.168.1.150 I would use the DDNS service from Swann which I register with the name MYSYSTEM.Swannddns.net So when I connect to http://mysystem.swannddns.net:560 from a PC, this would connect to my system from the internet. Have you tried something like this from a PC first? When you are on your pc at home, use this site. http://www.canyouseeme.org/ and enter the port numbers to verify they are open. Make sure you have a PASSWORD on your nvr.

See this post here: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=35927&start=15 I use a NAS NFS drive as a secondary drive to the NVR, the data is written to the NAS drive as a mirror.

You kind of can do this on the Lorex/Swann by adding a NAS drive device to the NVR (and Cameras). Set the NAS (in NFS or iSCSI mode) drive to mirror the main built in HD and it shall record data to both. I do this with mine.

Great. Is this US version of the firmware? Is it a beta version then? Have any problems using the Lorex Nvr with it? Did you stick to the 1080p resolution? I'm curious about the Smart IR option.

Ok, check that DHCP box and put the IP/MAC address in your router, just how you did with the cameras. Done, I also changed the port on my cams so I can remote in to them, So far so good. All I have to do now is flash cams to the 5.0. Good stuff. It works now because it has the DNS server passed down to it from your router, so it can find the email servers by name. Its best to have a single point of this info on your network, the router. I just updated this post, regarding the sync. viewtopic.php?p=222300#p222300 Do let us know how things work out, especially with you updating the firmware on the cameras. I haven't done that yet, the NVR firmware won't accept higher resolution videos. You could try updating the NVR firmware with the Hikvision version, that could be risky.
