  1. I have been struggling with my Lorex system now since I got 6 cams hooked up. Old system went back because a display issue. So, the UPS man pays me a visit today and I get my brand new Lorex 6 cam Costco special out. Well, I hook all 6 new cams up to my new NVR and I get the same screen issue I got before! The dreaded Lorex "no resource screen" Now I have 8 hooked up and I am getting the No resource black screen on 3 cams. Go to the 3x3 display pattern, everything is great. All cams show feeds and we are happy. But how is it, that my 2ND!! NVR from Lorex is having this display issue? Is everyone elses' Lorex systems displaying the 1+5 and or the 1+7 fine on your TV or monitor screens?
  2. The swann is a good product, and their support is good. Im getting ready to take mine back. however, I have one of the first runs and I just updated the firmware on it twice. Im not taking it back because theres nothing wrong with it. I decided to pick up the 16 channel instead. I'm having a tough time on choosing the 16 ch vs the 8. It's price point seems a bit steep, but I guess with what you are getting it's worth it. I am debating on waiting to see if the 8 ch goes on sale like it did earlier in the year. I just hate taking stuff back again to Costco. (thank god someone has good CS; I'm not even a member)
  3. After setting up the system and leaving them on for 24 hours, 2 of the bullets have moisture in the lens. The system is going back to Costco and I guess I will try my luck with the 8 ch Swann system. Very disappointed with Lorex CS and qc standards.
  4. I talked to 3 different Lorex people, they gave me 3 different answers. One said they are aware of the issue and working on a firmware update, one said I got an old system with the old firmware and to get a new one and I will be fine (which is what I did) and the last one said I have a bad nvr and to return it to them. I thought for sure that buying the "new" prepackaged system with 6 cams the 1+5 and 1+7 displays would work, but it still doesn't. I'm tempted to flash with Swann firmware but don't want to risk bricking the NVR. And I know the sb Jim has the same system and his works fine so there are some out there that work. It's just frustrating that I can't get a straight answer from Lorex.
  5. I ended up returning to a brick and mortar Costco. And I got the 6 cam lorex system from website. Pulling cables wasn't a big deal as I work for a communications company. I just tied strings on, labeled them and pulled them through. I'm never going to use the alarm inputs so it was a null issue to me. I just couldn't get past the price point of the lorex with 6 cams. As previously mentioned I was very happy with the system I had, it just wouldn't display the 5+1 or 7+1 on my monitors properly. And for some reason it wouldnt update the firmware from locally or ftp. I also didn't want to risk bricking; updating firmware from somewhere else either. So I am anxiously awaiting the new system to come in and check it out.
  6. Some of you may remember a while back my issues with the Lorex 8 ch NVR system with 6 cams. Long story short my screen will not display the 1+5 format or 1+7 for that matter without a black window for one of the cams. 3+3 and all other formats, no issues. Viewing on ipad/phone 1+5 works great. Contacted Lorex numerous times with no resolution, they just say they are aware of the issue and are working on it. Whatever. So, just got off the phone with Costco and found out that I can return the system for a full refund if I want. So now my dilemma is should I get another Lorex system, the one they are currently offering, which I think is a pretty good deal, or go with the swann. I don't have any issues with the Lorex at all, except for the config issue. But I like the interface, and like the app as well. So other then the previous advantages (possible ptz control and alarm inputs, etc) the swann has over the lorex, thoughts?
  7. I am having a problem adding a 6th camera. When I add the cam it gives me a "No Resource" under the Lorex emblem. This problem is only occurring when I have the 1+5 or 1+7 configuration for display. When I configure it 3X3 or single screen, everything is cool, I can see all 6 cams just fine. Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem. Any help, suggestions will be greatly appreciated. 4 cams are Lorex 1080p bullets and 2 are Lorex 1080p domes.
  8. You can see 6 cams on the 1X5 screen on your TV?
  9. Joey, can you see this configuration on a TV/Monitor connected to the NVR?
  10. Ok, after hooking it back up (6th camera) I can get it to display the 1+5 on the web client software, my ipads and iphones. That's great, but I still can't get it to display on my TV's. (I have an HDMI splitter and the signal goes to 4 tv's) There has got to be a way to get it to work on my displays.
  11. Joey, do you have the Swann or Lorex system?
  12. That's the one. Do a search on here for Lorex vs Swann nvrs or something like that. There is a ton of good info on the strengths and weaknesses of each product.
  13. Can you display all the channels in the web browser? I can, but only when it is on 1 at a time or 3x3. Basically, it does the same thing on the web as it does when your at nvr. 1x5 or 1x7 it still says no resource. And whenever I plug that cam into another port on nvr it acts as if the picture is going to come up, then just goes to no resource. But again, the only way I can get 6th cam to work is have 1x1 or one at a time on the screen or 3x3.
  14. There are quite a few in here with the Swann and Lorex 8ch 4 cam 1080p nvr ip systems from Costco that are happy with them. Personally I have the one made by lorex and I am happy with it. It is user friendly and once it is setup, it just works. Just have to catch them in stock.
  15. I submitted a ticket with lorex and 2 days later they have escalated the ticket to a technical support specialist. (I thought it was already with a support specialist). I and going to try and call them later to see if I get any better results going that route. Have tried playing around with different settings and searched the web only to find nothing. I really like this system but what is the point of offering certain cam configuration displays if the nvr won't support it?
  16. I did what you said with no change. I even set each cam all the way down to 6FPS both on continuous and Motion side, lowest quality and a max bitrate of 1280, down from 4096. I rebooted NVR after changing settings with the same dismal results. Anyone else have had this problem and was able to fix it somehow?
  17. http://www.costco.com/Lorex-Full-HD-1080p-PoE-IndoorOutdoor-Night-Vision-2-Pack-Dome-Cameras.product.100043750.html I just got my Lorex system in today, pretty nice so far. I close on my new house Wed next week, so it will be a bit before they are mounted. I was looking for a dome solution for 2 locations and came across these at Costco. One thing I don't care for with these cams(Lorex) is the size of the hole that will need to be drilled to mount, a bit bigger then a bottlecap. NVR fan noise is well normal for a piece of networking equipment, you can definitely hear it, but it's not like riding with the windows down at 70 mph or anything. I will play around with is some more tomorrow, any questions let me know, I will do my best to answer.
  18. I am not a huge fan of ir domes either, and where the domes will be will always be lit anyway. (Electriconic eye controller for my outside lights) I got them more or less because a dome will work much better in that location then a bullet.
  19. Ditto, I will settle for any video....lol
  20. Just waiting for someone to maybe youtube a Lorex setup. The swann looked pretty nice, I can't imagine the Lorex being much worse.
