  1. Come to the northeast US. I'm sure uncle Joe from the department of Sanitation can give you a nice splash of snow with his snow plow...

Actually the rude New York'ers or New Jersey-ans might just splash you in water or snow while you walk down the street after the rain.

People here seem like they couldn't care less, as long as it doesn't inconvenience them who cares if someone else suffers from their stupidity...

I think snow is awesome, sitting here near a ski resort in the mountains and it's 60 degrees, warming up like Sochi, where's my winter wonderland, rude plow drivers and all?

  2. Which camera are you using?

    Thanks.

this is how ive done my own umber plate, its a covert style bullet cam mounted inside the post with security screws/bolts and sealed with a black silicon style sealant to the light post, heres a day shot of what you see

  3. Interesting analogy.

    If you need tech support, than your not a pro " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" />
    ^^Something amateurs say

Agreed, wireguys. Anyone who thinks they don't need tech support is like the defendant in a criminal case who thinks they don't need an attorney.

  4. The 12 states require all parties to a conversation to consent before it can be recorded are: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Washington. (In California, there is an exception – you can record a conversation with the consent of only one party if certain criminal activity (kidnapping, extortion, bribery or a violent felony is involved).

So in Pennsylvania all party's need to agree to be recorded for a recording to take place? So what if you are filming outside in a park (with video camera) and you accidentally capture someones conversation.

    Are you breaking the law?

Or is public streets, sidewalks, parks, etc. excluded?

On the other hand, can you have a sign saying that by entering the premises you are consenting to have your voice recorded?

This is called implied consent right? What if the person claims they didn't see the sign?

I guess you have to make everyone who approaches your home sign a memorandum of understanding that their voice, image and likeness can be used license free in print, want ad's, TV, etc with no royalty or compensation. lol....

  5. What camera is this?

I couldn't resist this camera. I'm calling it my Christmas present to myself this year. I love this thing! So much crapola goes down on the road, it seems a no brainer to have a camera out there as well if you're a camera geek. And so now, I do

This is the other night in snowy conditions. Probably not the best example of what the thing can do because of a schmutzy windshield but heck- that's the road. It has to give results not matter what out there. I'll post some more of day time and clearer night as well.

  6. As I understand it...

Dahua is the manufacturer or brand name under which they sell the cameras in China and perhaps other parts of Asia, Europe, etc. In US they have a policy of no "Dahua" branded products directly competing with their re-sellers (swann?).

Why they do this? Probably so that they have an easy source to sell goods to in US market (Swann) without need for many of their own US based sales staff, support staff, distribution centers, etc.

Swann sells the cameras to retailers like Costco, Sams club, etc, and they in turn sell to the customer.

so correct me if i am wrong here but what is the point of a brand name called dahua making products if they just then go and sell them without their name on them

also mine has no serial on it and even in the manual it says they will need this if i ring them or something

  7. I see. Well I don't know then.

If they can make a knockoff camera in china by duplicating the casing of the camera what makes you think they cant print "Dahua" on the camera?

You see I also bought from china before. Also bought a product advertised as Dahua. Received unbranded camera. The manual and box were very generic and did not show the "Dahua" brand name. The seller from China claimed that this was Dahua's policy since they have an agent in US. By agent I assume they meant a OEM like Swann...

I though they were telling the truth and kept the cameras.

I wanted dahua because they are supposed to be good but if i have something that doesn’t even say dahua anywhere in the manual, packaging, or camera itself how can you tell

this wasn’t a cheap camera so i would say they have every reason to make fake or probably sent another cheap camera that looks the same every single dahua product they have on their site says their logo and this one doesn’t

  8. Why do you feel its not real?

And why do you think in China they would make a knockoff of a camera like Dahua? Is this common? Maybe I'm not aware...

This is not a name brand watch that is a status symbol or luxury good. As far as I'm concerned as long as the parts in the camera are same as Dahua specs (Lens, Image sensor, etc) name brand printed or not doesn't matter much.

    Thanks

So how is one suppose to tell if its real or not if there is no make brand on it or anything

in the manual i have it says on the back of the dvr there should be a serial and a model number on the front it has neither of these

all the pictures i have viewed online say dahua on them

  9. I think its amazing how HD IP changed the game of surveillance.

The kind of snaps you are showing just a few years ago would probably be considered high end for analog equipment.

These days with high definition TV, monitors, etc. a little soft image or blurriness and we say = "wow this is terrible."

Amazing... How a few short years and what used to be considered state of the art is now junk you may find placed out on the curb for garbage collection.. " title="Applause" />

I don't have that model Hikvision, but I'm not happy with the HFW3300C image quality in mixed light. The picture is very soft and muddy in the shadow portions when part of the image is bright. Between that and the awful Dahua tech support, I've given up on them. Maybe the next generation will be better, though.

Here's an example. 25' away from the HFW3300C in 3MP mode, mid afternoon, lots of light - shouldn't be very challenging. These zoomed snaps were taken about 5' away from each other within a minute or two. On the first one, you can see that the detail right behind me is completely blurred, even though the well lit detail is not bad.

    Good lighting:

    Shadow a few feet away:

  10. Whats the best one you tested?

Why do you have one? A lot of no fault accidents in California?

    Terrible...

There are a pretty long post on this not that long ago. The problem with them is they get extremely hot and people have had them warp and go bad. Don't really know the purpose of them. If it's a dashcam, why doesn't in come with the attachments. If it's an action cam, again, why doesn't it come with it's attachments and waterproofing.

For a dashcam, I use the ws300w. But also have been testing another one that's better but cost more, like most things in life.

For an action cam, I like the JS1000, comes with all the stuff like a Go Pro but for a fraction of the price.
