  1. Hi, wow I wish I could help , but are you sure that u successfully change the firmware because if it was not compatible with the model of your Nvr it wouldn't upload ... though I think that you should power off the nvr , then remove the HARD DISK if there is any and put it on ... if it continues to give problem then contact HIKVISION technical support.

Yes you can load improper firmware. The hard disk does not store the firmware. This is improper advice.

  2. I picked up a no-name CCTV camera from aliexpress and was looking to see if there was a firmware update for it. The camera I got was this one here: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/FTP-Motion-Detect-P2P-ONVIF-Megapixel-720P-HD-802-11b-g-n-Wireless-Wired-IP-Camera/32313211840.html

The problem I see is that in the WiFi settings, it only has an option for TKIP encryption (nothing newer).

The version info on it I see is:

    System: V4.02.R12.00006510.10010.1303

    Build Date: 2015-03-17 09:44:44

Is there a way to figure out a new firmware that works with this brand-less camera?

Forget it, there is a reason its 27 dollars...buy a cheap wifi bridge. Or better yet wire the camera up properly.

  3. Running short of electrical power could be main cause.

You mean the power supply that I use is not enough ?

The camera which unable to see is always the same.

    Camera model?

how are you running power to the camera? Over what cable?

Did you properly crimp the cable using 568 standards?

  4. So I looked at few other systems, and I like the clarity of the system below. What are your thoughts? It's coming out to 2200 shipped.

The iDVR-E16 is 16ch stand-alone H.264 surveillance DVR that supports analog CCTV and high definition surveillance cameras (AHD CCTV). This type of DVR that works with both SD and HD cameras is known as a hybrid.

  5. hi all!!

i know ebay equipment is often frowned upon- but simply i cant afford what i want elseware. an yes i know you get what you pay for. (as i learnt with my SUNLUXY ebay special!!)

all i want to know has any one used or dealt with any of the other brands found on ebay..?

    FUNLUXY , FLOUREON , ZOSI , ANNKE , SANNCE , ONVIF , ZMODO , ZNV ?

    any others?

any of these brands OK? any to stay clear of? im not after a high end system -just something to replace my existing DVR box. they all offer what would properly considered a basic system at the right price- i just wanna know what the reputations of these brands are like..

im based in perth - western Australia if that makes any difference

( and if anyone knows anything about replacing / upgrading (il even conside downgrading!) sunluxy firmware id love some help!! (dosnt have to be sunluxy firmware- any firmware thats compatible il be happy with!)

    SLDVR4-4600

You say that you learned with your " SUNLUXY ebay special"..i dont think you did.

  6. Thanks again for your response .I didn't pay much for the cameras I have so happy to start again. In which case back to the drawing board... How would you do it? What cameras would you buy? I'd like 2 cameras to start with but something I could add more 2. Would I get a nvr and a couple of cameras for £200 ish? What should I buy?

There are tons of threads discussing cameras and nvrs.

Match the cameras to the nvr's

Look at dahua and hikvision. If you buy hikvision, understand that there are world region and china region cameras. Lots of info, you just need to start researching.

  7. £200 maybe? How about if I scrap the non hd cameras and just used HD? Would that make my idea more realistic? Thanks for the reply.

First, the cameras would need to support onvif and even then it does not gaurontee the NVR will be able to utilize the cameras motion detection...Why are you using low end cameras like tenvis and foscam?

Wifi is a terrible idea for cameras that need to be able to stream 24/7. Reconsider your entire setup.

  8. Hi,

Simple question (hopefully there's a simple answer...)

I can fully access all the facilities on my DVR from windows XP running IE8. That is, I see all camera channels, can view videos in realtime and playback recordings.

However, from Windows 7 running IE11, most of that is unavailable because IE won't run the Sannce ActiveX control.

Is there any way to get full access from W7 + IE11 (as well as XP+IE8)?

hit f12, change from edge to ie8 mode.

  9. Hi,

I have a DVR8-4100 Swann DVR with on RJ45 port on the back. Can I add 2x PTZ cameras to this with it only having one of those ports?

    Thanks,

    Phil

Its seems like you are thinking of adding 2 IP ptz cameras using the ethernet port? that wont work. Your dvr is analog. You need an analog ptz or better yet upgrade your dvr to a hybrid.

  10. Thanks for your suggestion. Budget is not an issue. We need something that can pick up very very small items on a counter during playback in case something happens.

Hello, in all honesty, you're better off buying OEM Dahua surveillance solutions. It's much better priced (at least where I buy from), more advanced features, and more reliable in the long run. 2 choices: HD-CVI (720p 1.3MP - 1080p 2.4MP) or iP (1.3MP and up, including 4MP). They have WDR and to ensure the light issue, make sure the camera has an OSD(on screen display) menu. If you do IP, you'll need an NVR. For HD-CVI, you'll need a Tribrid HD-CVI DVR which is compatible w/analog, HD-CVI, and IP up to 2MP. An 8CH with 2TB is called a "mini" model. Yes, cameras are interchangeable.

    [MOD: post edited]

If budget is truly not an issue then consider 4k cameras and/or a bunch of 4mp cameras with 6mm possible 12mm (depending on the layout) lenses so you zoom in closer to the action with a few overview wider angle 4mm cameras.

A system like this comes with vari-focal cameras that where the "zoom" can be adjusted. Its not designed for real time zoom, simply to make installation easier so you dont have to guess as to lens size. The varifocal here is motorized and autofocus.

  11. Hello there, i recently setup a dvr to connect to the internet so i can use web surveillance, i have used my laptop to connect to the ip and it works fine but then i tried to use my phone but the plugin is not supported, how do i use my phone to go on web surveillance

use a mobile app like ipcamviewer or tinycam

What model dvr are you using?

  12. Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of putting together a very small (one camera) IP-based system. I'm looking at a NVR (Model # DS-7104NI) from Hikvision (http://overseas.hikvision.com/en/Products_accessries_433_i5423.html). This is a wireless NVR that works with wireless cameras. However, I would like to hardwire via the ethernet port. My question is, would I be able to connect the system to my network via the NVR's wireless capabilities? Or is the wireless feature only for use with wireless cameras? If not, are there NVRs out there with this capability (record via ethernet cable; connect wirelessly to a network)

Also, unrelated to the above question, has anyone every changed a camera's housing color? I was gonna get a Hikvision camera as well but was hoping to change the color with a high-quality can of spray paint. (Electronic hardware removed of course)

I would love to ask you guys about general fishing for cables through walls, but this may not be the best form for that.

    Thanks!

Get the Dahua version at a better price and more efficient. NVR4104-W. PM me for details.

How is it more efficient? What makes you say the dahua is cheaper...its all about where you buy from. Seems like you have an ulterior motive. "pm for details"

  13. Hi everyone!

Wanted to hear some suggestions in regards to upgrading our DVR setup for our store. We currently have an 8-channel Prodigy system that is connected to a static IP.

Browsing here, I am impressed with Hikavision 4MP cameras. Our needs is the best quality in detail when zooming in during playback (we sell small gems). Also would like great dynamic range and can withstand bright lighting.

If I purchase Hikavision cameras, what DVR console do I purchase? I'd like 8-channel 2TB and greater. Are cameras interchangeable with other DVR systems?

    Thank you!

If you buy hikvision cameras then buy a hikvision nvr. Dont mix and match.

  14. Hello,

I currently have an 8 camera system with an 8 channel DVR. The DVR has apparently died. It is a five year old Nuvico. The installer said it couldn't be fixed. So I'm looking for a new one.

I'd like to get a 12 channel unit to replace it, in order to have some expansion capacity. My question is, what are the better brands/models? And is it likely a unit would last only five years. I have no idea what the normal lifetime is.

    Any help appreciated.

If you dont want to replace your cabling and you are in the US, costco is a great source for hd over analog units. They offer lifetime returns.

    http://www.costco.com/Q-See-16-Channel-HD-Analog-DVR-with-2TB-HDD%2c-8-1080p-Cameras-with-80'-Night-Vision.product.100159617.html

The image quality on these cams will blow away your current setup. This is a dahua rebranded CVI system.

  15. This is why installers recommend against purchasing home surveillance from Costco, etc.

Costco sells the SAME dahua cvi systems you recommend in your other posts as rebranded lorex and qsee. There is NOTHING better about your systems. In fact costco is a better option because not only do they offer a long warranty, but the offer a LIFETIME return policy. YUP, lifetime. Now this particular system may be a lower end garbage unit, but to bash costco in general is foolish and uninformed.

There is obviously something wrong here but you have not diagnosed the issue. Next...

  16. Transitional as in a temporary upgrade using coax. If you are installing new lines, at the very least use ethernet and baluns so that they can upgrade later. The 1080 on the cvi is not as good as the 1080p on the dahua ip cameras. Yes, they claim the same resolution buts its not quite there.

Ethernet (Cat5, Cat6) cables perform well with HD-CVI, but the quality of the video resolution is slightly degraded. It is still a dramatic increase in resolution over analog resolution, but the degradation in quality is around 10%. As for Dahua CVI 1080p 2MP vs Dahua IP 2mp, if the features are all the same (WDR, DNR, etc), then it's going to look the same. Remember, that MP (megapixels) is what determines the resolution you're looking at.

No its not going to look the same. You should compare the two side by side. Regardless, the customer should know what they are paying for and the other options out there.

  17. Transitional as in a temporary upgrade using coax. If you are installing new lines, at the very least use ethernet and baluns so that they can upgrade later. 18. Currently have a Qsee system which doesn't work, and customer service never picks up. I'm looking to upgrade to 8cam system, possibly 16ch HD 1080 or 720 system. What system would you guys recommend?

Forget all this rebranded higher priced, less efficient Hik equipment. I work only with OEM non-branded Dahua equipment. that $110 1080p camera someone mentioned is a motorized lens camera. unless you actually need a lens that auto focuses when you digitally zoom in, then get a fixed lens. Even if you go motorized, i know a place you can get each camera at least $10 cheaper, but its still better equipment.

    Anyways, for your project:

    -an 8CH runs just $125, 16CH are just $199.

    - For your home, max you'll need is 4TB, and thats just $170.

    - Do 4 1080p fixed lens for inside ($49/ea.) and 4 motorized for outside ($99/ea.) =$592

    - 9CH 10Amp power supply box is just $31.

    - 60 feet premade coaxial cables are $5.00. 500 ft RG59 cable is $40.

TOTAL NOT INCLUDING CABLE IS JUST $918. THATS $300 EXTRA IN YOUR POCKET, PLUS MORE EFFICIENT, RELIABLE, BETTER RESOLUTION ON LONGER RUNS' EQUIPMENT. need i say more? oh yeah, plus they give tech support for anything you need, and 3 year warranties. " title="Applause" />

except that you are installing transitional equipment (CVI) in 2015...the customer should at least know what they are buying. At the very least, run ethernet so they dont have to pay twice when they want to upgrade to ip later. CVI is not more efficient or more reliable than ip. The resolution is not any better, its in fact worse. The only benefit is longer runs which in 99.9 percent of installs a non issue.

  19. U$3,000 could be a bit too much. Herebelow, U$299 was quoted in

    viewtopic.php?f=54&t=49370

That is a system that is on sale, 4 cameras NOT 8 with no installation and no drive. Sunny you need to compare apples to apples. In the US the labor rate is much higher than your native china. We are taking about running ethernet professional through the house. Plus providing service and warranty. There is big price difference between installing yourself and having a professional do it. Doesn't mean the professional ripped you off.

  20. Looks like that is an LTS nvr not LTN..its made by hikvision..likely the cameras are hikvision as well...they are very good cameras.

3000 is a good price for an 8 camera system like that installed. Not sure why you think its a bad deal. You need to learn about this stuff before accusing installers of ripping her off. There are many installers who are cheats but based on what you said so far it doesnt seem to be the case.
