how i can realy chak the camre that i bay if it 1 mega pixel or 1.3 mega or 2 mega???This is easy. First, look at the actual resolution the camera claims it is delivering. Then, compare it to other camera sample videos on youtube.

If nobody puts comments for a given time, you better prove HD-TVI system yourself. One camera, one DVR, and the max cable length(cable roll) would not cost you much.So far we been installing HD-TVI systems here and got great results, in fact better than IP since there limitation (300ft max before adding another switch.) when it comes to cost to our clients. (Fiber expensive here).
The farthest we ever run on UTP (CAT6e) was about 800 ft (244m) using HD-TVI Baluns and approx 900 ft (275m) on RG6.
We know that HD-TVI is capable over 1300 feet, just trying to figure out if there are coaxial cables we can get without splicing, or has anyone ever tried splicing coaxial for HD-TVI?
Thanks
Good to know to hear success of HD-TVI in field
Too bad to know there are some guys who keep peddling 4MP IP Cameras even for home applications or ministores.
Google and Contact "TechPoint" and ask the company about choosing a good quality cable for a longer distance. The Techpoint develops chipset for HD-TVI. They should know !!!.
Too bad there are guys peddling (thats a word I taught you, you are welcome) 960h junk cameras and low end DVR cards their company makes.

The dark clouds are breaking and the storm beginning. France then who, Germany or Sweden?By the time they stop lying to themselves it will be too late...Listening to the radio today, they interviewed a Frenchman, they asked him if he is afraid. His response was that he fears it will now be difficult for the "refugees" because of negative perception. I almost hurled my breakfast. That dude will be first in line.

Running the key frame interval at anything higher than 2 just looks horrible in iSpy, dropping it to 2 and 720p is the only way to make it look close to decent in iSpy or VLC, and it runs at about 8-15fps according to iSpy.CPU consumption is usually under 50%
something is wrong then...make sure you are pulling the main stream and not the substream..

I have 2 cameras at the moment, one that I got on ebay, a 1080p off brand china camera (ebay link below) and a Hikvision 3mp one I borrowed from work. Both cameras look amazing when I view them through the web browser logging into the cameras IP. However both are slow, jumpy and just look horrible in iSpy. Any ideas on what I can do? I got mine to look a little better if I drop the resolution to 720p and set the key frame interval to 2, the default is 50. I would like to be able to record in 1080p though.I also tried viewing the camera through VLC, looks about the same if not worse than iSpy, really don't know what the difference is or what I can do to fix.

dont put your iframe interval at 2..that is your problem..set it to 15 and set your frame rate to 15...you also may have a cpu consumption problem..what is the cpu consumption percentage?

You will have no problem.I would suggest you do a Step by Step approach, rather than saying it'll be fine, how about saying "lets try this, but keep an eye on if things slow down and if you have a quota limit"
then if they notice anything just look at increasing the speed of their connection slightly or increasing quota if they are on that sort of link
Because "you will be fine" is the correct answer based on the information provided. What you are stating is "i have no clue so why dont you test it and see. If it doesn't work get faster internet." That doesnt help the OP.
There are substream settings on the NVR to address this issue.
-
Every NVR has the option to limit bandwidth for the substream so that you can view remotely. You will have no problem.

Hi Guys,I know there are specialized cameras for freezers and cold storage deployments, but I was wondering if there was a way we can upgrade any standard CCTV/IP cameras to work well in below zero applications?
Perhaps assemble a sort of heating plate and special casing with fan for the camera? What does the camera need to be freezer ready?
Regards
Most cameras can handle well below freezing..the issue you may have is condensation forming...they have cameras with heaters built in..you dont want to mess around making your own..

Hello,I need some network advice for a new IP- Camera System with 24 cameras which we will set up in our company. Out of these cameras most will not need a resolution higher than 720p but at least one needs to be a 2 MP and one a 4 MP camera. The 2 MP camera will also be a PTZ camera.
So far the existing network is shall be used for the camera set up. while most of the time recording and monitoring will be done from computers connected to this network every now and then the managers will need to log in to some of the cameras from i.e. home over the internet.
This will besides some rare exceptions only be two people and also most of the time on weekends or at very early/late hours when only the operational departments are working.
Now I am wondering what bandwidth would be required to provide a constant access for this situations, without slowing the internet connection for the rest of the network down to much.
I am not sure what bandwidth the current plan provides, but the speed-test says around 5 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
Also i am open for any general input on solutions for this situation. Maybe a separated network or internet access only for the NVR could be a solution as well?
Thank you for your help in advance!
The speedtest results are irrelevant for local viewing. If you network is gigabit you will not have any problems.

Welcome to the world of pixel based motion detection....you can try using line crossing for email alerts but keep motion detection for recording...recording space is cheap...
ha! Thanks Boogieman. Weird that the algorithm that BlueIris uses didn't pickup the dust as motion. Guess its more advanced than what is crammed into the camera.
Its depends on your settings....blue iris has recently changed its algorithms for motion detection and allow more advanced rejection methods...but these should only be used for alerts..for recording err on the side of too sensitive.
you may need to lower the sensitively but you will miss events...its always better to record more than less. Storage is cheap.

Hey guys. I've setup one my 2032's outside, and during night vision recording, Im getting motion triggers every few minutes (or sooner)It seems dust/debris is triggering the motion sensor.
My settings are;
IR
-on
MOTION
-on
ENABLE DYNAMIC ANALYSIS
-on
CONFIGURATION
-normal (not expert)
SENSITIVITY
-20
Scattered array of motion areas.
I'm just dumping motion events to a Ubuntu Server.
Any idea how to stop the motion trigger from going off on dust?
Thanks

Like I said am not fightingBUT READ. My first post read it twice and see what I recommend
But if the budget does not allow then 960 is second best
Why is 960h second best to ip? The budget does allow for 1080p.
-
No I never made a mistake Like I said most 960 units will now also take 720 AHD like hik and dahua or all my stock is uselessEveryone is a beginner in your eyes
Yes I know what 720 is I know what 960 is I know what analog is
I have just sold 15 dahua 12mp ptz cameras I know the trade
Yes your right 960h is nothing like MP res but it can still work it's still sold it still can be attached to ANPR IT STILL WORKS OF FACE RECONISTION . BUT TO SAY ITS NO GOOD OR CRAP OR USELESS Is a stupid statement
Please show me a single dahua 960h dvr that also supports AHD. Just one. Moreover even if it did exist, you didnt say anything about using 720p cameras. Your 960h stock is useless and you should be ashamed of yourself for unloading it on unsuspecting costumers. The OP was not looking for an LPR camera or for a PTZ. 960h is a terrible recommendation and should simply NOT be used.
-
yes we are all best moving to hikvisionNothing else in the world can cope
Don't reply am not interested in what you have to say
BUT I DONT AGGREE WITH YOU THAT 40 million cameras still in use today can't do the job
Dont tell me what to do I will reply when and how I want! I NEVER mention ONLY going with hikvision. My point was going at the minimum 720p which is DOUBLE the resolution of 960h. You make an error in fact when you stated 720p cameras can be used with 960h DVR which is NOT the case. Makes me question your competence.
960h is NOT suitable for 2015 just like CRT monitors are no longer produced or installed for the mainstream. There are new systems and new techniques. Low resolution systems like 960h require MORE cameras to cover the same area and a tighter FOV to get a decent image. Its simply mathematics. I dont see how you can justify installing 960h systems in 2015.

I have no idea...also you a making an assumption that the footage will be useful..who knows...
-
Why should it not be installed ...... It available and in his priceAnd don't say it does not work
Yes you have IP yes you have analog 960 or 720
They will all do the job ..... It depends on a persons budget
Take the Swann link .....that is a senternal unit swanns own
Cheap and a very basic app when it stays running
It doesnt work. A 960h DVR as you stated CANNOT handle a 720p camera. It just doesnt work that way.
If a 1080p meets the op's budget why in the world would you recommend 960h over 1080p?
Listen like the rest am not going to get into a fight with you
ALL DAHUA OR HIK 960h also take 720 AHD
I have worked with the Swann listed it's crap ..... Slow and choppy
It's not just about price ...... It's what is best for his budget
But please don't say it does not work that way most 960 AHD do
You are the one who mentioned a low end swann system. The system I linked to is a HIKVISION TVI system rebranded as swann. You are simply wrong about a 960h system accepting AHD. That is impossible. I think what you mean is an AHD system also accepts 960h, and that is NOT what you recommended. It is malpractice and unprofessional to install 960h in 2015 and more importantly, silly when you can get a hikvision TVI system that is 1080p for the same cost.
-
Yes, i have amazon gift cards, my budget is between 300$ and 400$, and i have to buy 8 cameras and 2 DVR. I know those are not the best quality, but that's all i can reach.what about this combo:
you will get what you pay for...

Wish you would give it a rest960h works and $500 budget ... Allows a system to be bought
All most all 960h will allow to use. Both 960 and 720
Why give it a rest? I posted a link to a 500 dollar 1080p system. Why in the world should OP go for a 960h system that is 1/4 the resolution. Makes no sense. 960h systems should not be installed in 2015. Anyone doing so is committing malpractice and a complete disservice to their clients simply to save a few dollars (literally a few). 960h systems do not support 720p. Its the other way around. Most 720/1080p systems also support analog. IF OP took your advice and purchased a 960h system he would NOT be able to use a 720p camera with it.
So please give recommending 960h systems a rest, its improper terrible advice. Thanks
-
Dont even consider 960h...720p should be your minimum 1080 would be better..Id you want an ip system, 500 is insufficient..but if you are going to go analog, then at least go HD with a tvi system like this.
http://www.samsclub.com/sams/swann-8ch-1080p-8x8-1080p/prod19070375.ip?navAction=
Its a rebranded hikvision 1080p TVI...
Though and IP POE system is a much better option...and can be had for 700-800 when on sale for about 6 cams...

Hi. Remove hard drive and put in PCLook for file data on it and make note of dates
Then refit back into dvr and search those dates
Thanks for the reply. I will certainly go to a professional in the morning and suggest they do this.
I am so worried. What are the chances that they can recover the data? it says only 8gb free space out of 500gb..? i lost 60,000 k ...i am going crazy.
thank you sooooooo much !!
i lo
Sounds like the data is there...but who knows...it may have not been recording and what you have is old data...
-
These are all low end junk. You want a minimum of 720 and preferably 1080p (NOT 700tvl or 100tvl or 960h).
Are you buying from the US?
Start reading the forums before you buy. Understand the different technologies, IP, analog, HD over coax like CVI/TVI. I can assure you if you dont do any research you will end up with a terrible blurry image.

Dear members,I was a victim of a burglary, and the building had a H-264 DVR . On the monitor when the super went to check it it said all 7 cameras were recording because it had "R" on top of each small screen. However the correct dates were not set, and it read sometime in march 2000. When he finally accessed the user and admin accounts, he could not locate any video footage. Under HDD disk info it says: total capacity 465GB AND free space 8.98 , which makes me believe there is recording footage in there.
every time the machine is turned on and off , it resets the date to 2000-01-01.
Is there any way to access the footage ? maybe remove the hard drive or something?
There was a lot of money and valuables stolen, and the detectives are not doing anything about the case !
If there is ANYONE that can help me I am immensely grateful !! please someone help me !
Thank you in advance
turn off the machine and find a local PROFESSIONAL to help you.
