  1. Hello, you have to incrementally update your firmware occasionally you can skip an update but its always a BIG risk. I have firmware from 11-27-2014. if you need it send me a message.

***BECAREFULL*** upgrading always creates the risk damaging the unit. I take no responsibility for any damage caused by attempting the upgrade.

Hello, yes I would like to give that a try. Thank you.

Does anyone have an older firmware for intermediate update? I am currently running General_DVRxx04HF-X-E_Eng_PN_V2.608.000.0.R.20120926.bin.

  2. That is the same firmware Empire sent me. I tried it, it didn't work for me. Luckily it didn't brick my DVR. I am currently running firmware 2.608.0000 build date 20120926 (which I got direct from Dahua a few years ago).

Is anyone running a newer version on their DVR1604FH-U-E?

  3. I have a Dahua hybrid DVR1604HF-U-E. Vender sent me firmware update package with the following files:

    • custom-x.cramfs WinImage 5 KB
      flash.bin BIN file 16,384 KB
      General_DVR5X16_Eng_PN_V2.200.0001.24.R.20141114.bin BIN file 13,607 KB
      Install.lua LUA File 9 KB
      logo-x.cramfs WinImage 5 KB
      romfs-x.cramfs WinImage 12,089 KB
      u-boot.bin WinImage 218 KB
      update WinImage 13,517 KB
      web-x.cramfs WinImage 1,421 KB

How should I apply the update to DVR? I tried copying Genereal_xxx.bin to a USB thumb drive, renamed it to update.bin, plug in DVR, then went in the DVR menu info-> version -> upgrade, but got error message "update failed".

  4. Did you ever resolve this problem? I am in similar situation: bought dahua DVR1604HF-U-E from Empire. Managed to get a firmware update direct from Dahua a couple of years ago (General_DVRxx04HF-X-E_Eng_PN_V2.608.000.0.R.20120926.bin). Recently got another update through Empire (General_DVR5X16_Eng_PN_V3.200.0001.24.R.20141114.bin) but it won't flash.

  5. I need to replace a lipstick style bullet camera (about 20 mm diameter and 60-70 mm length). It's for outdoor use with the front 1/2 inch of the camera exposed and the rest protect by a housing. Would like to get decent low light image. The dvr is capable to record full frame at 960h. I can replace it with an IP camera as well if they come in that small size. Can anyone offer some suggestions? Thanks.
