  1. Are you thinking of using a Dynamic DNS name?

I find those make it easy to differentiate between LAN IPs and the internet-based traffic when i'm working.

The problem was I was using the ip address assigned by the router to the dvr which works inside the firewall but once outside the firewall the ip is not seen so I got lucky and tried the ip address of the WAN which was seen by the internet and then it would route me back to the DVR computer. It worked. I have to use IE to change the default IP address in DMMultiview v8100.

  2. Hello all!

My name is Jack, and I am new to the CCTV arena. I am not new, however, to the network and IT arena. I will try to add any insight for troubleshooting or experiences I have had to this forum.

I like the comradore thus far, and I look forward to participating. If you have networking questions, internet questions, etc. I would love to help out. Just PM me.

    Happy new year, everyone!

    Jack

  3. I'm getting ready to put in another hard drive so the video can be written there as well.

Has anyone had success using the twin DVR system?

What I plan on doing is buying a wifi external hard drive and putting it in a secure location, then have GEO write to its local HDD as well as over the network to the wireless hard drive.

Depending on what model I find for the hard drive, the network speed will be anywhere from 10-108 MB. I'm hoping for something in the 48 MB/s range so the data will write correctly. (I'm not multicasting)

Has anyone attempted this sort of setup?

Or do you guys recommend the V2center over twindvr?

  4. I picked up the Ati 9550 256 mb. And Installed it with their newest drivers off the internet. But it still looks the same. Not to bad when in quad view but realy bad in full screen. Also the speed is always too fast or too slow. Never nice and smooth. If I bypass the computer. And plug my cameras straight into the monitor they look great. Such a bummer. I never had this problem with the Swann DVR. I don't want to give up on this Geo 800. But I'm getting pretty frustrated with how bad it looks. Dave

Dave, I just have to ask... Are you running anything else on the system? Anything that might take away from the system's ability to process video?

Also, you mentioned you had the most recent drivers, but you might also want to make sure you have Direct X installed correctly. I know my GV-800 came packaged with it.

Also, are you familiar with how to use windows' peroformance tools?

I'd take Rory up on his offer to check out your system to make sure your settings are correct.

    Jack
