  1. Im getting PC resource in the 90-99% range on a Geovision 1480B card with Intel Core7 4770 on an ASUS H87 Plus motherboard, 8 GB RAM Windows 7 64. Im using the onboard graphics from the motherboard. What first brought my attention to this was a 4-5 second lag between IP and analog video.

I've got 9 analog cameras and 16 IP cameras.

Would the GV 5016 drop my resources much? Is it worth the upgrade?

I tried turning various things on and off and the biggest resource hogs were the analog cameras and digital matrix. If I shut down the analog cameras, resources drop to the 30s; stopping digital matrix drops resources into the 60s. Turning off prerecording helps a bit as well. I tried a decent add on video card, but that didnt help much at all.

I guess I could migrate everything to IP but thats gonna be costly.

  2. I have Gv-2008 cards which have a DSP out built in. I cant seem to get any of my IP cameras to show up on the DSP. The analog come over great and look wonderful on there.

Is there some setting in the software I am overlooking?

    Thanks!

  3. I realize this is 3 years old. But I recently tried to get this to work again and cant seem to get it working right.

I have tried putting the 6 pin cable in all different combinations to connect the 2 gv-2008 cards and still I cant seem to get 16 cameras to output through one card for the TV out.

Andy, if you are still here, please help.

  4. When is Panasonic supposed to release the WV-NP502? It was shown and ISC West and won an award and also showed at IFSEC 2009.

    http://www.panasonic.net/pss/security/products/nw/nc00.html#WV-NP502

It is listed on the Panasonic global site as coming out Summer 2009, but isnt on the US site.

When I tried calling US Panasonic, I was told a representative would call me back...that was a week ago....

    The specs look good.

Did anyone see this cam? Is it worth waiting for?

  5. Update:

Here is the list I got from Geovsion. First list is the current list for 8.2 and second list is for 8.3. They've added alot more cameras. Also there are more that are not on the 8.3 list as stated above.

  6. I got a response from Geovision support that GV8.3 is coming out in February. The only thing I know about it is that it will improve/allow adding IP cameras to the gv-2008 cards and that Arecont H.264 IP cameras will be supported.

Does anyone know what other improvements are coming our way?

  7. Here is the response I got from Geovision support:

Thank you for contacting GeoVision Technical Support.

In V8.2, we do not recommend adding IP channels to GV-2008 systems. However, the problems will be fixed in V8.3, which should be released in February (ie. you can add IP channels to GV-2008 systems in V8.3). Please find attached a list of supported cameras in V8.2 and V8.3. We have since then added Arecont 5105 to the V8.3 support list (ie. you will not see 5105 on the list, but it will be supported in V8.3). Please contact us in February for V8.3 software download.

If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

    Best Regards,

    Ray Lee

Of note, there was no attached list of compatible cameras. But the h.264 are supported as the 5105 is covered. So that is good news!

Anyone know anything more about 8.3?

  8. I have two GV-2008 on a 16 analog cam system and am looking into moving to some IP cams.

I found the following list of supported IP cams posted in here in May 2008 by Andy Chen. Was wondering if there are any new cams that have been added to the list. In particular I am interested in the Arecont H.264 cams, especially the AV5105

  9. I am moving to a new house and would like to try my first ptz. I have a budget of up to 3k. I need it to be stealth as the neighborhood rulebook is larger than our phonebook and would like to put it in recessed surface mount on the top of a pyramid roof. see pic..

With the camera being basically upside down like this, am I going to run into problems? I figure I need 240 degrees to cover the grounds.

I need high zoom factor with excellent low light but no IR and I need excellent auto tracking. No need for fast ptz. I live in the south so Im not sure I need any special housing....in fact Id like to use a smoked glass to hide it.

    Any thoughts guys and gals?

  10. Ive managed to send alerts through my email account directly to my phone using att. I use (cant post this yet....dont have enough posts) and it sends emails with the pics. xxxxxxxxxx is my phone number including areacode. Other carriers I bet would work also.

NO need to buy a dedicated SMS device. Of course I have unlimited bandwidth account on this phone. This is very cool, especially when on vacation and no one should be in the house.

    Question/problem:

each email has about four pages, though. The firs three are pages of all my account info, including ip address for webserver, rpb, etc etc. Doesnt seem very safe and it clogs up my phone. I just want the pic and the time only. Is there a way to edit this?

    THanks

  11. Has anyone noticed that when using the multiview product through a web or lan connection that when you double click on an image it goes to a single size... this is how it used to work. When you double click it again, it doesnt return back to your original quad or 16 view, whatever you used to have. you have to right click and uncheck full screen.

What a pain in the rear. Its not like that on the full version.

Ive tried this on XP and Vista... same problem.
