Hi Guys
I purchase a Hikvision NVR and a few Hik Cameras and it up 2 weeks ago. setup the email notification and schedule.
3 problems I have and hope you guys could help
1 when camera switch from day to night or night to day mode, it will trigger an alarm
2 the Motion Detection Schedule reset by itself very often, like 2-3 X a day making the camera side Motion Detection alarm unusable.
3 NVR side Schedule will not reset, but "some" camera will not sent picture attachment
NVR = DS-7608NI-SE/8P
Cam = DS-2CD2132-I

Hi guys
I am not a network person and I need some help setting up my Axis Camera that will sent email with image from 1 account to another.
First some info, I am using static IP for my camera 192.168.0.101 for example and I change port 9980 for port forwarding(it worked). my router is set to DHCP from 201 to 250
When I setup my email in SMTP it ask me for DNS (shown below)
"If a host name is used, a valid DNS server must be specified in the TCP/IP network settings."
This Message is from the Axis Web Interface
it require me to input the following in TCP/IP Advance Tab
Domain name:
Primary DNS server:
Secondary DNS server:
I tried the following but didn't work
looked up DNS IP by using ipconfig/all 67.###.###.### , didn't work
also tried
Domain name: google.com
Primary DNS server: 8.8.8.8
Secondary DNS server: 8.8.4.4
didn't work
So what should I put in those 3 box and how do I find out what to put there
I lookup the SMTP setting too but I think they are right
smtp.GMX.com
Port 25
or
smtp.Gmail.com
Did I do anything wrong? what else can I do?

I would deff recommend HikVision, honestly thats the better ones i have used and actually a lot of people love them. They are friendly graphic user interface and easy to setup. Would be happy to help you setup, also a free computer client comes with it. It supports a 4TB HDD and Axis Cameras.Thanks for the reply, I am most like to go with hikVision at this point tho, someone brought up Avtech a few post down, I wanna know what is review for those too. it might be a bit too expensive to me if I go Avtech but really depend if HikVision can do all that Avtech can do.
How is the Motion Detection on HikVision?
Do they have a iOS app that come with it?
Also do they provide free DDNS?
For an 8 channel NVR, with good MD, email notification with picture or push video, which model would you recommand?

Need your help/input on this,
Does anyone use Plustek NVR, their website look promising but I can't really find any reviews on their NVR's I am interested in their X880P
My other choice could be Hikvision NVR, their review are so so...and I just don't know too much about them. Chinese brand could be sometimes....you know....
What I really aim to get
8 channel
a good motion detection feature that support email alarm sent with picture
have an iphone app or support iphone / ipad
not a very noisy fan
I got a 4TB HDD so it need to support 4TB HDD
I only have an Axis M1025 camera and plan to get 1 more Axis and 2 -3 Hikvision Camera
need support for both Brand is ideal
so any input on the 2 brand or any other suggestion is welcome
Notes I brought a Super Mini NVR and my M1025 wasn't supported so I am in the process of refund. I need some input before I try out another one.

ok, nvm, I just download the newest firmware and it is still not recognize my Axis M1025.
Anyone have Axis Camera and able to get it to work?

Hikvision Camera / NVR Sysetm Problem

NVR firmware: V3.0.9 build 140928
Cam firmware: V5.2.0 build 140721
I set email on the NVR ( after I added all my camera, non of them sent pictures)
I can setup email on each camera itself and do have image sent, but the schedule keep reset to 0-24hours
so If I set email on NVR then no image, if I set email on cam, the motion detect schedule turn on 24hours a day
it is not triggering an alarm, but triggering the motion detection then sent me an email
more issues I encounter,
1) Motion Detection setting from 0 to 100, 0 = no motion, 20 to 100 = full motion
there is no in between, now that it is snowing, motion detect and sent me email about 200+ a day
2) Camera need to reboot almost every day
if I do not reboot camera(s), I will have no recording (reboot NVR does not work)
Camera "will" have image on NVR HDMI output
Camera "will" have image on Camera web interface
but no NVR web interface image or ipad app (iVMS-4500 HD)
it will not record
it will not record image
This is starting to drive me up the wall
