  1. Does anyone know why my push notification in the dahua gDMSS mobile can only work when it is in Wifi but not in cellular 3G signal? Any specific setting for each signal? How does Push exactly work? When you enable it in your phone. Does it establish continuous contact with your NVR or use a server or something? Please elaborate details how it work. I want to understand why can't it work in mobile but only in Wifi. Thanks.
  2. I have just about spent a month focusing on cctv at night discovering them.. last point before I forget about them... I just can't make even gmail work in the dahua nvr.. what's the secret how to make it work? Someone says only adjusting dns setting can make it work.. what do you think?
  3. I never had a problem plugging in a non-PoE device into a PoE port on a switch. I have a lose Ethernet cable on my desk, connected to a PoE switch that I use to plug in cameras, NVRs, PC's for testing purposes and never had an issue. Thanks. Last question before I forget about cctv and go elsewhere. Are the expensive $2000 Axis 3MP or Bosch 3Mp significantly better than the $85 dahua 3Mp.. or they are *almost* indistinguishable? If better.. how exactly better.. like there is 50% or twice greater dynamic range in the more expensive unit? Any comparison images directly between them? (In your web site, the images of each are at different time so shadows are inherently different to start with). Anyway. Does it translate to revolving more shadows and details at night? By how much?
  4. I tried some PIR and learnt their alarm connections just pass thru current when triggered (N.O. or Normally Open). This means you have to supply power to the Alarm Input of the DVR or NVR and have one part of wire connected to the PIR alarm connections (that can short it when triggered by the recorder). Can I use a power adaptor of let's say 5A in this alarm input setup even though it draws maybe only 20mA? Can it adjust to any source power or draw all is supplied (overloading it)? I can't find in any part of the manual the maximum current of the alarm input. What circuitry does most DVR/NVR use in the alarm input.. is it just relay? I need to know this before using a 5A or even 2A 12 volts adaptor in the alarm input of my recorder. Thanks.
  5. Have you tried using the paid app gDMSS plus? After scanning p2p, try saving it by clicking upper right button.. then go to LivePreview and just click one window. In my experience, DMSS doesn't have patience.. if network is slow or bandwidth too big.. it just drops the connections. Also have you tried testing one ip cam instead of 11? Maybe the cpu cannot handle all at one? Please update us how you solve it..
  6. With your great dynamic range emphasis of the 4300s.. I got 3 of them and another 4 channel nvr with 4 poe ports. I think I remember the pc lan cable can be connected directly to the nvr 4th poe port to access the 3 camera setup menu (to enable or disable WDR for example)? Won't the power in the nvr poe port fry the computer lan card? Has anyone tried this? Also where to look in the nvr what is the remaining incoming bandwidth allocation (already used and free)? Thanks.
  7. My nvr is non poe with default ip of 192.168.1.1 and none Qube. Qube ip cam has fixed ip of 10.1.1.X (you can't change the first 3 even on software access thru pc) which connects to their NVR with built in poe switch with address of 10.1.1.1. Does this mean that even if you use DHCP, it still won't revert to the router ip range of 192.168.1.1? Or could it be the pc can't change the qube ip of 10.1.1.x to 192.168.1.x because the pc has to be set to 10.1.1.x too.. how do you go around this? If qube has fixed ip of 10.1.1.X and the first 3 unchangeable (can anyone else confirm this?). What router has default ip of 10.1.1.1? Most use 192.168.1.1.. how do you connect it then to these addresses? Thanks.
  8. I got my 4300S locally at $160. Amazon selling it at $127. Where did you get it at $86? It's better not to use WDR because it's like there's a thin film put over the lens (like what buellkindle described). Also where did you read the 4300S natural dynamic range (without WDR) is not good compared to the Sony and Vivotek. I thought 4300S is the best already in the company of the Axis and other high end ones. Name one camera that even beat it in natural dynamic range in the 3MP department.

    Blue Iris Software

To those familiar with Blue Iris. Is it possible to access it remotely by P2P? Or do they plan to implement it any time soon if there is still no P2P capability? What other pc based recorder has P2P capability (where it can be accessed remotely) or does it need a hardware implementation that no pc based can do?
  10. How do you think the 4300s would compare to the sony or vivotek? which would have great dynamic range? I got two of the 4300s to replace the 5mp. In the sony, vivotek, 4300s or others, what is their WDR decibel? Dahua listed a new 4300s with 120 decibel WDR. http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/ipc-hfw8301e-626.html Does this occur at WDR Off setting (natural dynamic range) or artificial WDR? I think it's the latter or else it won't be called Ultra WDR 120 db. But then if they won't use the term WDR.. would they instead use "Natural Dynamic Range 120 db".. which may be the case here. What you think?
  11. Cool. I tried goggling "gsm modulator".. it doesn't come up.. where can one buy the above and what's the brand?

    PSS with laptop

Does no one use PSS here? I'm still waiting for my order of 8 channel 4208 coming late January. So need PSS to record now. But I noticed it stopped recording after 30 minutes. I can't find any pack duration in the software.. I know the pack duration at the camera setup server is for recording direct from camera. I'm talking about PSS. Any clue?
  13. I need a second NVR. Has anyone tried PSS with a small laptop? How does it behave 24 hours compared to a dedicated NVR? At least I can use the laptop if I need to bring it outside.

    dahua pc-nvr

no one has clue how it works? is it like blue iris? Ive been figuring out the past 2 months I've been using PSS but no answer. Now I have 2 ip cams without any NVR (because the ones I like will be here months later) so plan to use pc-nvr meantime. So how do you boot it up separately in pc. Windows also boot up without giving option to boot Pc-nvr separately.
  15. Are you talking of natural dynamic range of one implemented in software? I thought "WDR" is a software implementation. Maybe it is possible for a camera to have excellent natural dynamic range but mediocare WDR?
  16. my email doesn't work.. need it to dial thru gsm direct.. know anything that can press itself when powered via alarm output relay.. the press part can be connected to any phone green dialing button..
  17. Hello guys. I've been spending about 2 hours trying to figure PC-NVR inside PSS and searching the entire net but found no answer. Well. How are you supposed to playback what is in PC-NVR? Can it boot-up in pc separately? There seems no option to do that? How do you access its menu? Is its menu like in the dedicated nvrs? Tnx
  18. My Nvr can't call cell phone nor sms.. it can only email (and email has delays and mine doesn't work). Are you talking about gsm alarm system? But this is expensive.. I just need a unit to able to call or sms with trigger input...
  19. Is there a minimum frame per second before it is useful in security? Im using a 5mp with 12 fps.. and I can't seem to recognize people who move so fast and it appears above certain speed, you only see a blur.. What is the consensus on this? Thiefs don't stop at cctv and pause.. they even move faster... is 30 fps per second a minimum for recognition? or 20 fps? What? is it same speed at low light and daytime? What is your experience on this? Thanks.
  20. I've been confused something about this for 2 days and been searching in the net but some things are just not clear. A switch handles MAC and not ip addresses. A router handles ip addresses. First question. If you have 3 computers connected with switches and say with ip address 192.168.1.101, 192.168.1.102, 192.168.1.103, how come you can access using computer 1 (with ip 192.168.1.101) the computer 3 (with ip 192.168.1.103) using just the ip address? I thought switch can't deal with ip addresses but only mac address. Second and main question. If you have an NVR and ip cameras. How come you can connect the ip cams on the switch with the NVR plug into the switch too (without any router present) and the NVR can recognize or find the ip addresses of the ip cams? I thought Switches just deal with MAC address? It's one big mystery with answers that can't be found in the net. Anyone has a clue why?

    Dome maximum tilt angle

What is the maximum vertical angle of two axis dome? I want to use it on covered parking and also have street view so need the camera to be about 30 degrees from horizontal or 60 degrees from downward to upper (bullets can do any angle but how about this two axis dome)?

    Dome maximum tilt angle

When I initially get the 5mp dahua. I chose the dome (the vandal proof ik10 version with glass at middle). But being first time to choose a dome, I realized you can't move it to all angles. For example. I planned to use it at the top part of wall at a corner. It can't be adjusted to view the side. So are domes just designed for ceiling where you have to choose the target and fixed it there? But even if so, what is the maximum vertical tilt angle possible in dome? In the 5mp, it seems 45 degrees vertical is the maximum you can adjust as the lens can hit the side of the glass. But I want to be able to image the farther area.. do other domes can do say 20% below horizontal? There is another kind of dome, or the eyeball type so you can rotate the lens to any angle.. but how about this one that I plan to order (but can't exchange anymore).. http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/ipc-hdbw4300e-603.html Is the inside just pan and tilt? or can you change the angle rotation of the lens to put this at top of wall in corner and aiming it at the sides? Thanks.

    Dome maximum tilt angle

Eyeball is easier to adjust because it has 3 axis. You can rotate the lens ball while aiming it at the sides. The dome with glass is more problematic. There seems to be two kinds of dome. The following has more vertical limit because the glass can block the lens vertical movement. I've seen their internal mechanism. How about the following. How does the inside look like? Is there more vertical lens adjustment because maybe the glass doesn't block it? The former has motorized lens adjustment while the latter is fixed. What are these domes called respectively?
  24. I finally returned the dahua 5mp and exchange for a 4300s. I was glad I did. The low light performance of the 4300S is better than the 5mp. There is more noise in the 5mp. And even with Auto Exposure in the 4300S. You can have facial recognition.. while in the 5mp.. there is only blur.. you have to set it to Low Motion blur to see a face. and with only 12fps.. there is less sampling than the 4300s 20fps. Maybe it is because the single pixel sensor of the 5mp is smaller in comparison to the 3mp (so more noise)? The colors of the 4300S is also not bad. I'm expecting them to be faded like what Buellwinkle seemed to say.. but it can still recognize the difference between two shades of red for example. Well. If you still want the 5mp.. it may be good at daytime as you have 1.2x linear resolution advantage over the 3mp (right Maxicon?) and try to test yourself its low light performance.. don't just believe what I said above because i'm not a professional reviewer.
  25. I've been testing all night the low light performance of the dahua 12fps 5Mp. With exposure set to auto, motion is mostly a blur.. I have to set Exposure to Low Motion Blur to get good facial recognition.. but with IR on, there is a lot of noise. I wonder if the 4300S would be a big improvement. I'll exchange the 5mp for two 3mp 4300s tomorrow and hope there would be major improvement or i'll stuck with two 3mp (which I can't return anymore). Do you also set the 4300S to Low Motion Blur in the exposure at nighttime to get facial recognition or does Auto exposure work?
