  1. Sorry guys but I know for sure that on the Spectra III main boards communicates with the block cameras at 4800 baud

and on the Spectra IV main boards communicates at the 9600 baud rate. I spoke to a Hitachi technician and he verified that and he mailed me the serial codes for the different baud rates but he didn't know how to do that with the Hyper Terminal from a PC. I will be keep searching for the answer.

Thank you all for your comments

  2. I mis-spoke. Actually, it is not so easy to reprogram firmware in Spectra III and especially Spectra IV. We obtained the programming kit and software from a former Pelco factory rep and attempted to just update the firmware on a Spectra IV DD4CBW35 (35x Day/Night). The attempt wound up screwing up the camera.

The original problem was slow response to Preset 1 and the lack of certain functions in the camera's menus. After updating the firmware, the process apparently added a password to the camera programming so that now we can't access much of its menu or even program a preset in. We've tried every password we could think of and it remains locked.

Spectra II's have replaceable firmware chips and TLS will sell the updated chip with replacement modules but III's and IVs have non-replaceable chips.

The (not so) funny thing is that after we encountered the problem, I talked to the former rep and he said "You were able to get the firmware updater to work? I'm surprised you even got that far!"

    Sorry for the confusion.

Thank you very much for the info.

    Take care

  3. Hello

Can anyone please let me know on how to be able to change the firmware on the Pelco Spectra cameras? If I want to use a different model then the original block camera on Spectra III & Spectra IV. I just purchased the Pelco "IPS-CABLE" kit but the booklet doesn't explain how to do that. Does anybody knows of a shortcut to instructions on how to do that?

    Thank you

  4. Hello

I have one Pelco camera Model: DD4CBW18 Spectra IV SE Ver: 1.06. When I boot the camera sometimes I have noisy distortion in the video especially in the bottom where there is some text and also on boot mostly will tilt the camera and hardly the pan motor turns. After it boots I am getting the error "configure failed". I tried another camera with the same results. When I tilt the camera to the top it automatically pans 180 degrees and that tells me that pan motor is working. I did a master reset with the same results. I would appreciate any feedback on this problem.

    Thank you

You tried another camera module? Was it the same model number? Pelco has used many camera modules in their PTZs and each one typically requires different firmware.

Yes I did with same results. Is there a way I post a photo of the video in this forum?

  5. Sounds like you might be under powered.

What is your camera distance from power and type of cable used for video / data and power

I am using it on my test bench, the wires are about 3ft only and tried the camera on 2 different back boxes and 2 different controllers. I have other Pelco IV cameras and I don't see that problem with them. Is it possible the slip ring or one of the circuit boards is defective?

  7. You should replace the tilt leg. I'm not sure which one is correct but it's either MF61-7051-129C-B or MF00-5561-100A. If you call Time Lapse Supply, they should be able to help you. You probably should also replace the belt, DB00-0012-4085. Again, call Time Lapse Supply. They are very helpful.

How do I replace that belt. I don't see a way how to remove it from the tilt arm gear.

    Thank you
