  1. That's what I want to get away from if i can. Plugging dvr to laptop and access the router and Internet without wiring. I totally understand a hard wire install and that it would be best.

Dvr to laptop with a short cat 5 and wifi to the rest would be easier I just don't know if it will work that way. If not I will need to hard wire.

  2. Hello helpful folks.

I have a qr414 dvr by qsee. I'm wondering this....

my laptop (room a) is connected to the Internet via a wireless router to a modem (room b). Does the dvr have to have the cat5 (lan) directly connected to the router? Or can I connect dvr cat5 to laptop cat 5 without running a cat5 from room a to b?

    Confused?

    Room a

  3. Week I bought a system Q-See QR414 / 320GB DVR w/ QSM1424C4 CMOS Camera 4-Pack ~ QSM1424C

It's a used system I paid 65.00 for it I want to think all of u for the help. My goal was to get out cheaply I hope it still ends that way. I also found a honeywell system it's older but complete from a casino. I may look at it for another project of mine it's a hdre 4x4 made by honeywell I know it's old but honeywell name has always been good right

  4. Thanks for the speedy reply. As far as a budget....well I just spent over 7 grand installing a new oven and dish washer in my mother's home. Sounds like a lot for just labor to install 2 new appliances? Well the installs turned into me racing cabniets building new Drawers and doors installing granite counters a new pergomax hardwood floor in 2 rooms and..... and tile in the kitchen on the back splash and now the 2 bath floors as well. So I'm. Broke. But it's mothers day and she is smiling like a kid in a cake shop.

I just know a 1 or 2 hundred dollarssystem will look like a 50 yr old tv with a bad tube. The enclosure I could build from lexan I belive it's the electronics I'm not up on. The Bosch has a low lux number but no ir I guess? I think I can get more used for my money if I piece together a system but I don't wanna buy stuff that will not work together

  5. Hello.folks yes another newbie with stupid question. I do have a small amount of a tech background with a/v but with all the new cheap products I haven't a clue where to start.

My skills are limited and I feel I could do better buying name brand used equipment. I'm looking at some Bosch lt Co 455/21 color cameras because they s3ll cheap (used) and have great reviews I can buy 8 for 50 to 60 bucks.

My mother is late in her years and she gets up and down slowly. I would like to put together a system that will keep a eye on her property and let her see outside with the remote on her tv. Your opinions on the cameras and what else I would need would be helpful. Like what multiplexer and or dvr suggestions and I'd

if i could look in on her with this equipment thanx joe
