Well let's take software like Video Insight. It claims to support 3,000 IP cameras from over 100+ manufacturers. http://www.video-insight.com/software/features/ Synology has a similar claim https://www.synology.com/en-us/support/camera It's just these CMS solutions don't offer the ability to only stream from the cameras when there's motion.

with a small licensing fee, GeoVision's CV2 is available for most ONVIF supported cameras. So there is an option out there. I'm trying to find another one.

Dahua does make some good products, but for the CMS I'm looking for, it's important to me that it's Windows based and has widespread compatibility with other IP cameras. Thanks

I'm looking for new Central Monitoring Station software. My goal is to send individual camera streams from many DVRs to a live monitoring center ONLY when motion is detected on the screen.

I work for a small monitoring center and we only want to watch our cameras when there's motion.

The only software I've found that does this is GeoVision's CV2 Pro. And I'd love to find another!

I just talked to Dahua tech support. They echo'd your same comments. There's really no good way to get them to communicate, and even if they could functionality would likely be poor.

Brewster Alexander makes a 1080p encoder as well, but it's not ONVIF compliant either

Thanks Boogieman. Yeah I think you're right, it's probably worth paying a little more for the IP cameras then having to pay for the encoder as well and adding an extra failure point. If an ONVIF compliant encoder offered high quality resolution and was cheap enough, I still reckon it'd be a good option. But that product doesn't seem to exist. But it retails for $380ish, and its ONVIF compliance is still in question.

I'm racking my brain trying to find a solution here! Essentially, I have an onvif compliant NVR and I want it to communicate with HDCVI or HDTVI cameras. I'm agnostic to the HDCVI or HDTVI manufacturer. These HDTVI cams are great because of how much cheaper they are than IP cameras - but I need to keep my current onvif NVR.

Possible solutions include using an encoder, but I can't find one with good quality resolution. Ideally it needs to have 8-16 channels as well.
