Hikvision DS-7208HGHI-SH - Cameras displaying B&W
grooster posted a topic in General Digital Discussion
I have a strange problem. I bought a Hikvision DS-7208HGHI-SH dvr last week and bought 2 HD cameras at the same time. I also had 3 old analogue ones off my old system. These all work great, no problems with the image. I bought 2 HD 1080p analogue cameras off eBay and plugged them into ports 6 and 7 and they only display in black and white. I’ve gone through all the settings on the cameras own menu and even restored the setting back to the original. Ive swapped the cameras to the ports I know are working in colour and they are still black and white. I have got in touch with the seller who got in touch and says this, I am so sorry to hear this. However, there is no setting within the camera's osd that can cause that. Therefore, you must look into your DVR settings. What encoding are you using for the channel. Is the DVR 1080P compatible? Now I’ve looked everywhere on the systems settings but can’t find where I would find out what encoding I am using. If anybody can help me it would really be appreciated. Thanks -
Hikvision DS-7208HGHI-SH - Cameras displaying B&W

DOH, what a mistake to make. Stupid me thought that because they were HD and had an analogue BNC connection it would be ok. Thank god they only cost me £19.00 on eBay. I’ll get them sold and the correct ones bought. Thanks for your help -
Hikvision DS-7208HGHI-SH - Cameras displaying B&W

I’ve been having another look at the problem today, going through all the settings. I had a look again through the instructions and you can press the menu button left for 5 seconds and it puts the camera into CVBS mode (low quality). The camera displays in colour. When I put it back into AHD it turns black and white again. I also thought maybe the camera is set up in NTSC mode and the DVR is PAL but this didn’t help either. From memory I think some of the HD swann DVRs are made by Hikvision, I may be wrong but i’m sure I read it somewhere. Its really annoying as I just want to get the system set up and finished off. -
Hikvision - Viewing locally on PC in HD
grooster replied to grooster's topic in General Digital Discussion
I really appreciate your time and knowledge on this, i’ll give it a go when I get home later. Many thanks again. -
Hi, I don’t know if anybody can help or point me in the right direction but i’ve just set up a Hikvision Turbo HD DVR, DS-7208HGHI-SH and its shows perfectly connecting to a monitor but locally on my PC, whether using Safari or the IVMS-4200 software it only show the cameras in sub stream. Im hoping theres a way to change this and i’m missing something because I always use my cameras this way. The dvr is tucked away in the garage and I view them locally on the PC connected to the same router. Many thanks

New system needed to replace an analogue one - HIKVISION?
grooster replied to grooster's topic in General Digital Discussion
Fair enough Boogieman, i’ll take a look at each system and see what the differences are. I just thought that maybe there was a supplier/installer with good knowledge of Hikvision on this site that might know off the top of their heads what the differences between model numbers may be. Unfortunately i’m not a member of Costco here in the UK, but i’ll take at look at your suggestions. Thanks -
New system needed to replace an analogue one - HIKVISION?
grooster posted a topic in General Digital Discussion
Hi, I currently have a basic and quite cheap 4Ch CCTV system. Kview EL421. I got it about 3 years ago mainly for the price and the ease of setting it up. I loved just being able to scan the QR and all the networking was done for me, unlike the previous system where I was just going around in circles port forwarding etc. We have moved to a larger house and what i’m thinking of doing is getting an 8Ch system, preferably 1080p but could be 720p at a push, but one that can also take analogue and also be easy to set up. I have been looking at the Hikvision Turbo HD systems, they look like they do everything I need it to do, but I just don’t know how easy they are to setup the remote side of things. Theres not too much info out there. Has anybody had any experience of using one of these. Can anybody recommend an alternative around the same budget? I’m looking at spending about £200/£300 on a DVR and a couple of good HD cameras. I would like 4 cams to add on but I know I may be pushing it at this price range. Any help is appreciated. Nick -
New system needed to replace an analogue one - HIKVISION?

Yeah, thats what I thought. Its easier for me to use the existing coax and just add to it while still having the option of 1080p. Does anybody know how easy they are to set up? Also there seems to be lots of different variations of them. I’m looking at 8CH like I say but there must be 3/4 versions. What are the difference in simplified talk. I’m still open to alternatives if anybody knows of any. Thanks for your help. -
Help migrating from geovision GV600 to a dedicated DVR
grooster posted a topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi, I used to have a Geovision GV600 Card in my old PC but I have upgraded my computer to an all in one Sony. Pc built in to the monitor type one. I bought a usb dvr 4channel but its not up to much. The software is not upto much compared to the Geovision. The motion detect settings are useless and only detect you if you activate the motion detection and stay there for a few seconds, so mainly when there is motion sensed and recorded more often than not there is nothing to show on screen. You also cannot set a prerecord of say 2 seconds before motion is sensed like my beloved Geovision card. So basically what I am asking is what alternative is there out there that I could use. I was thinking of a dedicated DVR but how would that connect to my PC. There are no AV connections on the back of the PC. Could I just control it locally using a network? If anybody could point me in the right direction it would really be appreciated. This system is for my home with just 4 cameras maximum. Many thanks Nick -
Help migrating from geovision GV600 to a dedicated DVR
grooster replied to grooster's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Thanks again Rory. It would be good of you if you could let me know what the system your looking at tomorrow is like. Are there any DVRs out there that you can completely control on a network locally, ie setup up motion control, email alerts etc without having to set it up on a seperate monitor. Space is of the essence. Many thanks. -
Help migrating from geovision GV600 to a dedicated DVR
grooster replied to grooster's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Thanks for the reply Rory. Unfortunately I have sold my PC and GV-600 card last week. I did this mainly because of space in my office. I wanted an all in one PC but I still need a decent CCTV system. I think a dedicated DVR would be my best bet. Can anybody recommend a good but reasonably priced system. Also is it easy to network these systems locally. Do they plug in with a LAN to my router.? Thanks again -
Is it possible just to get a new software programme to work with my dvr card that would enable me to get the pocket pc to work or is it the dvr card that i would need to change. Sorry if this is a stupid question but i'm new to this. Thanks for your help.

Hi, I've just set up a dvr card in my pc and can view the cameras remotely on a pc using internet explorer. It downloads a programme called webview. I'm looking at trying to view the camera on my window mobile pocket pc. When i type the ip address in it says i need to install webview software but when it tries to install it says it will not work on a pocket pc. Has anybody come accross this problem. Is there a way around it or another programme that will work? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for getting back to me with the info. What if I get a remote desktop programme for my pocket pc so that I can view my home desktop. Does anybody know if i will be able to log into my dvr pgrogramme and view it that way. Cheers
