    New WebSite

VST_MAN, Show me a site that you like. May be I do not follow the difference between crappy site vs. functional site. I just want to understand your opinion on what is a functional site, what are its relevance and why it is more functional for you. The main engineer working on this site is ex-Google employee/designer. The first preliminary results are very promissing, as all the major search engines are coming back daily and keep indexing the site. More indexing increases exposure and easier to be found. We already have 3 functional sites that are doing extremely well, however this site is complete home grown using several major tools that are not easy to master. I am not defending, rather observing comments and I appreciate them all. Thanks,

    Enforcer Power Supply

If you have 115VAC, it should not matter since it comes with (2) prongs input (hot & ground). It would have mattered if you were required to connect with (3) prongs (hot, ground and nuteral), then you would have serious problems, because the documentation was so poor... The connection requirements for 220VAC is different overall, similar in many ways, but still different... Levon[/b][/u]

    Enforcer Power Supply

Not sure what you mean "large" or "small" prongs, but as a rule, the large prongs carry the hot line, but then again, it will not matter, unless if you are operating with 220VAC input. What is your input voltage? levon

    Enforcer Power Supply

Rory, I agree, it is very confusing. If I am reading their diagram correctly, it should not matter how you connect the 120VAC cables to the main transformer or the output of the transformer to the card that converts the AC to DC allowing to adjust the voltage ouput. The inputs to the transformer and to the card is AC afterall. Are you looking at this site? http://www.seco-larm.com/pdfs/MiEvpDc120.pdf This page shows some decent information. However, I can see how confusing they mad their drawing. I take it that you will not be buying this type of a power supplies anymore.. I know we had a similar problem with these power supplies before and that was one too many and we switched back to Altronix and BTron.... Levon

    New WebSite

Hey Guys. Thanks so far for the feedback... Mind you that this is up and running only 2 weeks and it helps tremendously when we have more eyes to look at it... I am old enough to take any criticism and I appreciate your candidness… We are working on having this site to have (2) type of customers – dealers and end-users. Obviously, we do not have the dealer section ready yet… Anyway, I greatly appreciate it! Thanks, Levon
  9. Have you guys seen the new GE 4 channel recorder called Digi-4 or Digia? The dealer pricing is near $900.00. We had a chance to play with few of these units and they look great. With 3 years warranty, it makes it even better. The recording speed is 120FPS total (30fps per channel) Triplex function with MPEG4 video compression. The playback for very good and the pricing was best we have seen from any major manufacturers. Levon

Kalatel dvmre 10-ct-320 and ADT clone

ADT is selling DigiMux, which is very similar to GE DVRe series. Functionality is somewhat different, but the end result the same... Spec by spec they are very identical. Pricing is similar, few percentage points difference...

    Bosch/Phillips

Allen, We knew that they were being dropped before they did. Not that Carleberg's group was any help. We move large quantity of Bosch equipment for military and government projects and Bosch told us few months ago that they will drop Carleberg by end of this year and they did. At least, we are getting few percentage points of discounts starting January....

    Bosch/Phillips

Compared to other manufacturers, they are faily new, since Bosch bought Philips CCTV line. The company is going through major changes recently. They dropped most of the manufacturer's reps as of January, which means they will be adding more people in their own sales department. All in all, they make very good equipment with least amount of problems. Their advanced replacement program is great only holding to second after Mitsubishi... As for getting a job, well they are another verly large company and as long as you can negotiate a good contract for yourself, the rest will not matter... Good luck! Levon

    IR Sensitive B/W Camera

Rory, Now we are talking. You like the physical looks and esthetics I agree with you. At least we got this out of the way, but then they are not better than Sanyo

    IR Sensitive B/W Camera

Rory, I agree with you on the fact that every manufacturer does make mistakes on the specs and on the products. However, we also used their CamPlus cameras in large quantities and from picture quality comparison, they are not any better than Sanyo. May be better than Pelco, yes, that I will agree with.

    Dynamic IP Capable

Alen, have you had a chance to view the latest DVRs from Digital Logic? This company have been around for over 4 years. We bought quite of few of their DVRs in the past, some were windows based and some were based on linux. We recently bough over 20 of their 16 channel DVRs (linux based) becuase of the DVR's capability to automatically operate with any changes on IP settings (dyamics IP capable). After installing all these units, it became obvious that it does work very well... There is only one problem - when the IP address does change, then the user must register the new IP address in order to have access to the DVR... If you need additional information, I can put you in touch with them directly. They are located in Torrance in Southern California... Levon

    IR Sensitive B/W Camera

Rory, Please pay attention to the question on hand. Alen is asking about low end IR camera, not a day/night camera. Besides, comparing GE brand to be better than Sanyo, well I have something to say there too... Sanyo has been in business more years manufacturing quality CCTV equipment than GE, who basically bought many manufacturers and incorporated their products under GE brand name. From my experience in the company where we move tremendous amount of CCTV products, it is a very well know fact that GE cameras are not what they claim to be, including their CamPlus variations. When comparing both brands, lets not forget that GE is just new player and may eventually become one of the largest player, however their present list of cameras do not come anything close to Sanyo, American Dynamics, Bosch, Pelco or Panasonic. Everything looks great on paper, but in a real world, they lag major. Just look into their claims on their latest and greatest DVRs with 120FPS - if you use it, you will come to realize that it is true 60FPS attempting to work at 120FPS in turbo mode, which is not real....

    OEM for GANZ?

According to Ganz and their sales management, they manufacture everything including their DVRs. We recently used few of these products. Decent performers for the price.

    IR Sensitive B/W Camera

It is actually in their website under special application section. This is a current product and we have bought them recently. Here is the URL on their site: http://sanyo.com/industrial/security/cameras/special/index.cfm?productID=148 This camera permorms exceptionally. Not sure if it can be categorized as "cheap", but it is very cost effective.. Hope this is helpfull

    IR Sensitive B/W Camera

Alen, here is another option from Sanyo that is little more expensive, but does a great job - http://www.selectsst.com/ssh_pdfs/VCB-3574IR_prod.pdf
  20. Do you have a specific manufacturer dome in mind? There are several mounting hardware available dependent who makes the dome. Sometimes you can use 2'x2' plates that replaces the drop tile ceiling that will hold the dome, sometime there are other hardware that will secure the dome's position on the drop tile. It all depends on the weight of the dome and what mounting hardware available from the manufacturer. Please let me know. Thanks, Levon

    POS SYSTEM

Jojo, Have you looked at American Dynamics Intellex Premier DVR? This unit comes with necessary hardware to interface with most known POS equipment. They recentaly came up with Intelevew, which bypasses most of the additional external hardware that normally was used. We have quite of few of these systems in place and had started upgrading to Intellevew and so far, looks a very smooth transition.... Here is the url: http://americandynamics.net/products/intelleview_home.aspx Hope this helps! Levon

    Ipix Cameras

Yes, just check the specs on their site. Government agencies can not have enouh of these units. We recetnly had American Dynamics to adapt the protocol to record all this video using Intellex IP recorders and so far, this is as good as it gets.... Levon

    Any experiences with DVMRe Pro?

Excellent unit. Good video compression, and playback. Very easy to use and it comes with (3) years full warranty... Levon

    Ipix Cameras

MK, Yes, we have. Actually we signed up with them few months ago and I will say this, this is a fantastic equipment. It is costly, but the performance is exceptional. They managed to place this equipment in White House and here is a URL to view this camera's performance: http://www.whitehouse.gov/history/whtour/360index.html I know we are selling quite of few of them... and it is a new and great technology. XP Pro SP2

My take on Microsoft SP2, do not do it unless you have a very specific reasons, such as software requirement that needs certain drivers within SP2. After they released SP2, Microsoft admited that there are quite of few programs, including some their own programs, will not work correctly. Here is a url for some of the programs at least they admit that will not function: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=884130 Be very carefull when upgrading, as it will force you to update all your drivers, starting from bios to all your hardware with its own drivers. Our experience is that even their driver do not work right and most of the manufacturers are behind the curve to provide firmware and software updates to work with SP2... Microsoft addressed a very important topic - SECURITY - but they forgot that most of the world is not going to buy upgrades of software that they use, or will they?. At least they hope so... I am heavy Linux user and I have no problems as mojority windows users experience. Levon
