    Yes, you should be able to just replace the hard drive. You may want to use the DVR to format the hard drive when you first install it.

    Are you trying to replace the hard drive in the existing DVR? You shouldn't need the firmware version to do that.

     

    Yes. Can I just plug in the new HD? Not real familiar with the systems. Kinda thought it might be like computer where you need OS. Thanx

    My HD failed on my Swann SWDVR-83450H I have a identical replacement but don't know where to obtain the firmware/software & couldn't find it on Swann site & support email fails each time I try to send them an email.
