  1. Hello everyone,

I have been driving myself mad trying to keep my eBay special super mini NVR working. I have most of it working but can't seem to make it record reliably. I have read all 70 some odd pages in this forum regarding troubleshooting that troublesome product and I have decided that I am done with it and want to buy a new NVR that actually works. I don't want to spend a lot and don't need a whole lot of features other than it being a standalone device that can record 8 onvif channels. Any advice?

Hi You can try Hikvision or Dahua. They are the world's top 2 position in video Surveillance.

  2. First view the playback on a PC and check if the recording is flickering.

If yes: Recorder to be replaced

If No: VGA/ BNC Cable to the TV have issue with that cable.

Also anther possibility will be your Frequency of the DVR Setting was set wrongly. Singapore uses 60Hz. while some countries uses 50Hz. So do check ya.

  3. Hi there,

I've got a lot of footage that I've recorded and I'd like to scan it in an efficient manner.

The iVMS-4200 client only seems to allow playback at 16x speed which is rather slow for scanning large amounts of footage, especially since I'm not using motion detection.

Is there way of reviewing footage at a faster rate or some "smart" playback feature? I've had a quick dig around but I can't spot anything.

    Thanks

Hikvision Latest iVMS4200 will allow you to click to the spot you want to view. You can use your mouse to select the video in different time.

You can go to yourtube.com and search "remote playback of hikvision NVR" you will find instructions on that.

  4. Do you need a terminal block to connect multiple PTZ on 1 NVR RS 485 slot?

In IP Series PTZ you will not need to have RS485. you just need to power the camera and the data commands can be sent through the same network cable to the PTZ camera.

  5. Hello everyone

My boss assign me a job to find best and affordable surveillance system with best and compatible camera types. This is the first time I work with surveillance and IP cameras.

He want a surveillance system with face recognition feature. i.e. if a thief went to other stores the system can recognize him and send alerts. Also we need a system to support many cameras and what is the size of the screen to show like 200 cameras. there were a guy who advised me with the NUUO system with [junk software] IP cameras.

I need the best and cheap system with face recognition and the best and cheapest compatible IP cameras

    Any help is appreciated

Well if your wants a face recognition system. It will not be cheap. However, a face detection on the other hand will be a cheaper option. you may look into Hikvision, their cameras do come with Face Detection features.

The difference will be face detection ==> detects face and enhance the face image. Face Recognition will need a lot more intelligence. For example the snapshot of the thief has to be uploaded into the system before the VMS can do comparison. This will need a powerful engine and a software.

  6. I have three Dowson DVRs at three different locations. Each has six analog cameras that are set to record on motion or sensor. For remote monitoring and playback I use the manufactures CMS running under a Windows PC. All three DVRs are set up the same way and use the same cameras. All locations stream live video just fine and two stream remote playback just fine. However, one location performs remote playback at about 1/3 speed. It’s almost unusable.

The ISP is Charter and the rated internet speeds are 60MB down and 4MB up. I have given the DVR the highest priority in my router. I feel the 4MB upload speed should be plenty of bandwidth, but perhaps there is another spec beside raw upload speed that I just don’t know about.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi, beside the router bandwidth you may also want to consider the specs of the machine you are viewing with (PC, Laptop). You may reduce the frame rate of the camera. if not view lesser channel at one time. It may solve your issue. =)
