What monitor are you guys using for setting up cameras in the field? I'm looking for a newer system with it's own battery supply, decent image, etc. Thanks!

Interesting. I see you went someplace else. How did it work out for you salary wise? I'm curious, how is the industry paying. I've owned my own company for quite sometime now and am completely out of touch as to what the large companies are paying for highly qualified individuals. Anybody know?

I have an eight camera card that I was never able to see beyond the first four cameras remotely. Wasted a ton of time on the problem and never figured it out.

DVR, tell us more about how the Geovision monitoring station stuff works and is working. Do you have any examples of companies that are offering it?

The deal with Ozvision is you could tie it together with your alarm system so that in an event the monitoring station would receive burg signals from the alarm account and then a video popup would show video from the video account at the same time. Needs two phone lines to work properly. Must have a participating monitoring station to use it that way. Not sure if they have internet. Don't think so. FYI, they are integrating modules into some DSC panels.

What about H.264?

Can't agrea with you more. I use some day/nights with LED's but I don't say they do nigh vision unless I'm specifying extreme product. They really are the best. You pay for it though.

For the cheaper cameras they usually have a yellow lead for video, red for positive, and black for negative. You can splice the red on the camera lead to the red on your siamese cable, combine all black leads into black on siamese cable, and then run yellow lead to center conductor on RG59 and ground on camera lead to braid on RG59. Another little tip with the power leads at the DVR end. I usually remove the covering back about three feet on the sieamese cable. If you stick the red and black leads into a drill and keep a little tension on the cable you can spin the black and red conductors into a cool looking twisted cable that is easier to route and manage.

Sorry, I'm looking for a four channel for the demo unit but whatever line of DVR I end up using I want it to have capacity for up to at least 12.

Pelican cases are a hard case with foam that you can basically drive a truck over. I want to make a demo unit that my sales guys can take onsite to show a client. I'm not reffering to a PC based unit. I want a standalone that I can house in the case. Don't want it to be pc based. I'm looking for something of less $$$ than Kalatel or DM. Something for small mom and pop shops to get them a system.

I agree, the Ozvision is in my opinion a bad implementation of a good idea. I have to give them credit for getting thier product online with some of the larger monitoring stations though.

Why bother with having the letters stand for anything. Pick the best sounding three letter combo starting with an "A" and then add "systems" or something of the sort.

I am familiar with some of the video monitoring available currently using ozvision product. Not very impressed. Are you knowledgeable on what it would take to do monitoring for clients? We are currently putting together a national campaign for security dealers who want to get into surveillance. I'm obviously very interested in the possibilities. What is the best option for an existing company to generate recurring revenue through "hosting" video for clients? Does this exist yet?
