GeoVision control Center and a remote desktop

Dear Anchorjoe, Control Center contains 2 kind of remote access applications. One is called Remote Desktop and the other is called Remote DVR. Remote Desktop in Control Center is very similar to Windows Remote Desktop.. but the difference is when you are using GeoVision's remote desktop to login to the DVR, the current windows user in the DVR will not be logout.. With GeoVision Remote Desktop feature, you can change any configuration under Windows and GeoVision application. On the other hand, if you are using remote DVR, you can only remote access GeoVision application. And you have limited rights to change the setting under GeoVision application. Both GeoVision remote desktop and remote DVR will not interfere with DVR's recording.. Sincerely, ______________________________________________ Andy Chen Technical Support GeoVision. Excessive HDD usage? Did I configure it wrong?

Hi Tyman00, Yes, some of the nioise at night might trigger the cameras to do the recording... You might try GeoVision vesion 8.2... In this version, we have something called " Noise Tolerance " function. This function is to reduce false alarms and unwanted recording casued by the noises... The codec you got there is Geo MPEG 4 ASP... Please try the codec Geo H264 V2 in GeoVision version 8.2 ..if you are using VERSION lower than 8.2 you can try H264... H264 will provide users with smaller video size than Geo Mpag 4 ASP... You might consider using night vision cameras instead..... Any questions, please let me know... PTZ Control issues

Dear Anchojoe, I had checked the latest version 8.2 PTZ support list... The model you got there it's not on the list Bosch(TC700/8560) is the model we support.. The model you provide here Bosch Autodome Easy (model: VEZ-021-HWCS) on each, and one Nuvico SD-Z35 PTZ , I am not sure if these two domes would work with GeoVision since we haven't got these models tested before... But... one thing you can try is to test PTZ dome locally as the others mention.. In addition, PLEASE try the BoshTC700/8560 protocol to see if that works... In the GeoVision software.. Configure icon >> System Configure On the right hand side, check PTZ device setup. And select BoshTC700/8560.... Any questions, please let me know... GV-2008 with cameras @ 640x480 & GV-Center V2 question

    >> On the specs page it says that it only handles D1 resolution. I don't imagine using cameras at this resolution in every location since they are more than double the price. Does this mean if I use it with a camera that runs at 640x480 or less I will see a black border around the image? Can I record video to the hard drive at a resolution less than D1 to save space? GV 2008 provides clients with full D1 resolution and MPEG2 / MPEG4 ASP hardware compression...Each channel is 30 fps garantee.... Yes, you might use 640*480 resolution BUT YOU WILL USE SOFTWARE COMPRESSION such as Geo Mpeg4 / Geo ASP / Geo H264... >> On the web site it says that GV Center V2 is provided free. Does this mean it comes with the card or do I need to request it from Geovision? From what I understand it will let me connect to multiple systems running Geovision cards and view them in a single interface up to 80 cameras? Is there any other software I need or can I just install this on a client PC and point it to the ip of the DVR PCs containing the Geovision cards? Yes, CV2 comes with GeoVision installation CD. You might use CV2 for moinitoring....< FREE > You might use Control Center if you would like to configure any setting under DVRs remotely....... < NEED a dongle, not FREE > Sincerely, ______________________________________________ Andy Chen Technical Support GeoVision. Networking PC's with GV PC/DVR cards

Dear anchorjoe, Yes, CV2 is a good choise you got there.... But I am a little bit concerned about your wireless connection in each PC. if there is weak or bad internet connection, it will also influence the network performance between CV2 and DVRs... Here is the general procedure... On the CV2 side.... You will need to open up the CV2 software... of course... Then create a USERID/PWD..... On the DVR side.... In the geovision software, click network icon >> connect to CenterV2.. Then you will type the IP address of CV2, USERID/PWD that you created inder CV2 user accounts, then click connect button... If you are connecting DVR to CV2 from outside network... make sure you have done the port-forwarding ....Ports 5545~5549 Sincerely, ______________________________________________ Andy Chen Technical Support GeoVision.
