i got the DM-ProView-1209 from dvr master. i'm still mounting the power box, running cables etc. just got one cam temporarily hooked up. but so far i like what i see. still gotta network it tonight and mess with the settings. will post any issues i find as i go. hopefully none. i have it hooked up to my samsung 20 inch syncmaster. dvr has vga out. i was going to sell the lcd, got a 28 inch now, but i'm glad i had no buyers. gonna keep it for my cams.

i just got my dvr today from dvrmaster. before i even looked at the manual, i opened it up, took out the cd burner, and put in my sony dru500a. lol, first dvd burner i ever bought. had it in storage. did a 2 minute recording to a dvd-r. it took a few minutes to close the disc. i took it to my laptop, and to my surprise, it automatically burned the player software to the dvd. it loaded right up and let me watch the video. also had the ability to take snapshots. so, in conclusion, i guess anyone wanting to do this should simply try. only issue i had was my dvd burner was longer than the cd drive the unit shipped with. it is right up against the power supply. i had just enough room to plug in the ide cable and power plug.

i can get to it from roadrunner using firefox. but it's downloading at 4KB a second. very slow, and i know it's not my end cuz my download speed is lightning quick. looks like 30 minutes to download 4 megabytes,lol. that's sad whatever is causing it. try firefox. might make a difference???

how does it work????? my first dvr will be arriving friday and i'm curious as to how pre\post alarm works. mine states Pre Recoding by Event 2sec, 4sec, 6sec, 8sec, 10sec Post Recoding by Event 10sec, 30sec, 1min, 5min, 10min does it do this for motion detect recording? how can it pre\post record if it's only set for motion record? might be a stupid question, but i just thought i'd ask anyways. thanks

i'd simply try a different router. i have a video server that will not broadcast audio on one router, but will on another. some toys don't play together well. have the same problem with one of my ip cams. i can get audio to stream using one brand router, but won't work on certain other brands.

i wondered the same thing for other brand dvr's as well. i'd simply plug one in and see what happens. takes the same voltage, so i doubt you'd fry anything. i know when mine arrives with it's cd burner, i'll be trying to install a spare dvd burner i have laying around.

if you put DM-ProView-1209 into google, it'll take you to the store that sells it. i actually purchased it yesterday. probably won't get it for a week or so seeing as how i went for the free ups ground shipping.

i found a dvr that i think might be better than the intellicam dvr for a little more money. i like that this one has embedded linux tell me if you think this is DEFINITELY a better choice. free shipping and 3 year warranty,30 day money back. [edit by mod-sorry guys no store links allowed]

i just deposited my check this morning, probably take a couple days to clear. i was leaning towards the intellicam myself, seeing as how hdd is included. the only thing i really liked more about the sarto dvr from safemart was the gprs cell phone viewing. i'd love to be at work and be able to check out my cams now and then, albeit on a 2x1 1\2 screen,lol. i guess i'll have to settle for motion detect images sent to my mail, which i can view from my windows smartphone. i'd kill for a phone that could run activex. it'll probably be over a week by the time i order it, receive it, set it up and tinker with it. maybe closer to 2 weeks, but i'll definitely post my results. thanks for all the input. i still got a day or two before i order, so if anyone can point me to a better model in that price range, i'm all ears. but believe me, i'm a fanatic when it comes to my toys. google welcomes me when i search,lol. i've been researching for weeks in anticipation of my refund. but you pro's out here might know of a "secret" model i haven't seen yet. thanks again.

when using the supervisor software, you have to connect to 211.22.74.18. it downloads the jad file. i was testing it as i'm purchasing a dvr soon. i had to download it to my pc and send it to my cell via active sync. does anyone know where windows mobile stores java jar\jad files? i searched every folder on my cell and no luck. maybe the folder got deleted and a hard reset will allow me to find the folder? i wanted to know so i can copy a shortcut to my start menu. also, is this software connecting through a proxy or server somehow? because when you run it, the java app shows it connecting to 211.22.74.18. i found this odd. after further testing, my java app told me that the midlet threw an exception-want to kill this app? looks kinda buggy. this is changing my whole decision on the dvr i was going to purchase. does anyone recommend a dvr with solid gprs\edge\3g viewing software?

you should just get a fingerprint scanner then. it fills in all passwords on any site i go to simply with a press of my finger. i can't imagine being any lazier than that

i'm purchasing a dvr as soon as my tax refund gets here. i have a couple of questions regarding the alarm input\output on dvr's. can someone give a quick reference guide on how these work? what can i plug into the inputs\outputs? i'm somewhat aware that you can install motion sensors,sirens etc. but i'd just like a little more info. such as what are voltage requirements etc. can i simply plug in something like this strobe into one of the inputs?{SLC Strobe 60,000 candle power output, 180ma current draw, Two wire connection, Operates on 12VDC) or would that be output? and how would this strobe be activated? through the dvr motion detect or from another external motion sensor? this is where i need info. thanks in advance for anyones reply.

first system i ever bought, still using it- a lorex 4 camera system with 4 b+w cameras and audio built in to the cams. video and audio is carried by same wire{bnc connection} to the monitor. i bought this a couple of years ago because they are 2 way audio, and it gave me the chance to yell at my kids when i saw them doing something stupid in the yard.they hate it, i love it. now i'm in the market for a dvr and i want to use these cameras as well as a few others i will be purchasing. the 4 lorex cams are actually pretty decent and suit my needs. will i get audio on my dvr from the cams this way, or will i have to get separate mics for the cams and plug into audio inputs on the dvr? i know i'll lose 2 way audio with the dvr. that much i know. another scenario. if i output from the monitor to the dvr, leave the monitor in quad screen, will the dvr start to record on motion detect from the monitor output? sorry for being long winded, was just looking for a way to keep the 2 way audio on a few of the cams. thanks in advance for any replies.

my tax refund is roughly $800 us dollars. i need a dvr that comes with software to view through gprs\3g on my cell phone. i work construction so i'm outside all day with no access to a pc. i don't need nor can i afford anything much more than this, so a high end system is out of the question. i simply want the best i can get for my money. i've narrowed it down to 2 choices, but simply want the pro's opinions. if anyone can suggest something better\comparible for a little more money and can convince me it'd be worth it, i'd consider it. i'm looking at this ATD785D - 8 Channel State of the Art Real-Time Security DVR from youdoitsecurity dot com. this model is $790.00 with no hdd. my other choice is CPD505DV / AVC785DV 8CH MPEG4 Pentaplex Network 320GB for $800 dollars from ebay from us security solutions. any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

i connected with no problems using a tmobile dash (htc excalibur ) and tmobile as my provider.
