My outside camera flicks on and off and goes off for a short time in the dark. Then it comes back on and stays on for the rest of the night. It's all right during the day.
It's a good quality colour camera with a 3.5 - 8mm computar lens.
Should I be tweaking one of the adjustable bits on the outside of the camera or is the fault likely to lay elswhere?

Trying to view my Avtech DVR on my Nokia E61i
I get the interface, put in the password but then nothing.
Is there some other software I should be using.
I've googled 'til I'm blue in the face but come up with nothing
-
Thanks for the link to that thread but I have no difficulty recording audio and playing it back via the dvr or backing up to a disk and doing it that way. It won't, however, broadcast the sound live along with the pictures over the net.
-
Bought and installed an Avtech machine only to find later that it can't broadcast sound over the net as well as pictures. (they don't mention this of course)
Is there any way to do this or is there some other DVR (4ch) that will put up sound as well as pics that isn't inordinately expensive?

Thanks for the heads up guys.
Assigned a static address and is OK now.
Tiscali (crap) have lowered the speed on the line now and the drop outs have ceased as well . . . .
-
THE ROUTER PERIODICALLY DROPS OUT AND WHEN IT'S REBOOTED, IT ASSIGNS A DIFFERENT ADDRESS TO THE DVR BOX.
E.G. 192.168.0.3 INSTEAD OF .2
I THEN HAVE TO GO ALL THE WAY TO WORK TO PORT FORWARD THE NEW ADDRESS IN ORDER TO GET IT TO WORK ON THE NET AGAIN.
ONLY THE DVR BOX IS CONNECTED TO THE ROUTER BY THE WAY.
IS THERE A WAY ROUND THIS?
-
Nobody seems to know the answer to this. What would your educated guesses be?
-
They can always get at the box if they have a real mind to.
I have notices saying that recordings are being monitored externally.
I've also left the old video recorder there with a tape in it so they can take that.
Most burglars are pretty thick so they'll recognize that and not look any further . . . . .

Post your email and ill send you links. The forum wouldn't let me post the links. Can't we have the address in plain text? It doesn't have to be in html.

If I buy a DVD writer and change it for the CD writer in an avc 782 will it see it as a DVD and work OK?
Thanks

Thanks guys. All OK now .

Default password is admin/admin.
How do you alter it in the Video Server E software? I've altered it in the DVR box but can't find the way in the software at home.
It says in the manual to enter the 'system config account' in the supplied software but there's no mention in there of accounts or passwords. . .
Thanks

I haven't updated IE or changed any settings. I checked them all three times over.
It must be port forwarding OK otherwise, I wouldn't receive the pictures via the video server software.
My business partner gets exactly the same at her house. She can access via software but not IE so the fault must be at the sending end (I.E. router or DVR box)
-
It's a static address. There's only the dvr box connected.
As I said, I can view it OK at home as long as I use the video server software. It just won't show up on Internet Explorer.
I've re-booted everything.
The reason I need to view through IE is so that I can access the router remotely as well as the dvr box . . .
-
I can log in to my AVC box remotely using the remote software but I suddenly can't access it through internet explorer (I could before)
It's the same on different machines.
I've looked at all the settings til I'm blue in the face.
The address is definitley right - with colon followed by the port number - indeed, it's the same as the one in the server software.
I've tried clearing the cache, turning off the firewall, checked all the settings in the router twice over. I'm just mystified and the other person with access is experiencing the same at her house.
Any suggestions?
-
Yes, I noticed that.
The only upside to it is that it makes the staff paranoid at work because they know that I'm looking in
-
Thanks for your reply.
I was beginning to suspect that it didn't transmit live since there was no mention of it anywhere.
Does that mean that if I download a backup over the net I won't get any sound either because that will have recorded the sound?
-
Thanks for your replies.
It takes an age to back up files via usb or disk. I dread to think how long it would take over the net.

I've got mine set on CIF normal. I record all four cameras on screen and it's fine. The resolution is a bit lower but still great pictures - and you get a lot longer recording time depending on how big your hard drive is. (mine is 200gb)
As for usb. I've found that some don't work and some do but the back up time is incredibly slow. Better to use a disk. You could change the cd writer for a dvd writer but that depends on how long the back ups you want are . . .

Thanks for the info john.
Much as I expected really. I was just hoping there may be some other player it could be put through or something.
-
?????? As I said, everything works fine on site, it just won't play the sound over the internet.
-
I want to hear it in real time.
Audio is on channel 1 but I record and play back with four pics on screen and the sound comes out OK. I don't have to select one channel.
The machine is an Avtech 782.
-
Avtech 782 box is recording and playing sound ok but I can't access the sound over the internet .
Read the manual but there's no mention of this.
Is it possible to hear it over the internet? Have I missed a step out?
Thanks

Thanks for your reply.
Motion detection isn't activated. What I meant was: At the office, everything is viewed fine, in real time but watching the images over the net, it's extremely slow and jerky and I wondered if they was any way to buffer it so that you see it after a time delay when it's caught up - much as you get when downloading streaming video over the internet. . . .

Is there a reasonably priced dvr that will record audio as well as video onto a usb back up.?
the avtech records audio and you can hear it on playback but it doesn't put it on to the backup disc.
I'm assuming this is because the box continues to record what's going on currently during a usb backup and the's only one input and output for audio and it can't do two things at once. . . . .
