Camera + Lens installation
AVCONSULTING replied to rikky's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Your video out goes back to the DVR or whatever viewing device you have. The monitor out is a convenient outlet to use when setting up the camera and you want to hook up a small test monitor at the camera. -
Chance I has a nice product. Good picture quality and some decent features. It is very popular in several DVRs being produced and sold commercially in the U.S.

You might want to contact the manager at the Richardson Chicago office. They have tons of old stuff lying around that they would love to get rid of. Lots of Vicon stuff also like controllers, etc. It would be worth a call to them. Here is a link to their security store. http://security.rell.com/chicago.asp

Diginet site, can't minimize?
AVCONSULTING replied to alkaprim's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
The only way I've found to minimize it, or essentially move around between programs is to use the alt/tab shortcut. In fact I have Diginet running now in the background as I'm typing this. Everytime I try to use the minimize button on it, it just pops back up. I haven't found another way to do this but it is a workaround. Hope this helps. -
That is part of an old discontinued Vicon pan & tilt dome system. I'm afraid it won't do you much good without the controller, dome, camera, etc. You might want to give the local Richardson Electronics in your area a call since they have a lot of old Vicon equipment laying around and may be able to help you out. What area do you live in?

Here is the dummy camera company but you'll have to find some low end outdoor scanner. I don't know what you can do about that especially with all the moisture you have. Maybe it would be cheaper just to buy a lot of fixed dummy cameras. http://www.1800dummycamera.com/

Want To Purchase Digital Video recorders
AVCONSULTING replied to Robert Oaks's topic in Digital Video Recorders
You might also want to check out this company for pricing. I believe they are in your area. http://www.christy-ind.com/ -
You might want to let the managers of your nearby distributing companies know you are available. When I had a distributing company one of the questions I got asked most from my customers is if I knew of any good installers. You could also find out if they have bulletin boards in the stores that you can post on. The next thing you can try, if it is available in your area is to get the Contractors Blue Book and either do an emailing or mail campaign to all the dealers listed in the alarm and cctv sections. Here is a link to them, although it is the Western edition, but you could check if they have an Eastern edition. http://www.thebluebook.com/

There are several ways. Probably best to repost this in the DVR section so you will get more responses geared towards your question. -
Camera + Lens installation
AVCONSULTING replied to rikky's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
This might be of some help. Usually detailed instructions come with each particular lens since there are several different styles. http://www.vsscctv.com/ABCs-004.asp -
I think herminh who is on this site is located in NJ and he has a web site. Check the memberlist for his info.

You won't be able to run 6 wireless cameras, not enough open frequencies. I don't know what your budget will be but Extreme CCTV is very expensive. Mainly used in very high end applications. Plan on wiring to the cameras and you'll be able to use a wider range of lower cost but quality cameras. Where are you located?
-
I cannot see a valid reason for a PTZ in a residential application unless you are going to be home watching and controlling it. PTZ's don't have much use unless you have a guard type situation since if you are not home it will either be lookin at one particular area, or if so equipped running a guard tour which doesn't do you much good unless you are still there to take control when you see something interesting. For the price of one PTZ you can by several fixed cameras. Average U.S. price for a PTZ is anywhere from $795 to $1295 wholesale and that doesn't include a controller.
-
Before we get too involved in which camera, it would be best to find out more about the application. I didn't see anywhere in your post about where the camera will be used and what lighting conditions exist. Or are you more interested in a general discussion on the pros and cons of different types of cameras?
-
How many cameras and what distances are you talking about? The Extreme CCTV products are top of their class but also pricey.

You probably need to invest in a matrix switcher. We did something like that for our demo room a few years ago so we could run 32 cameras and output them to 5 different monitors. I think that Kalatel has a nice matrix that wouldn't be too much. Rory would know, he is our resident Kalatel expert.

This is the definitive piece of test equipment in the industry but be prepared to shell out big bucks for it. http://www.fmsystems-inc.com/manuals/CM-1.doc#http://CM-1.doc#

I saw this company at the show. Great products and much less money than NVT. You might want to ask your CCTV supplier if they carry it. http://www.vigitron.com/

Is this something like you are looking for? http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F003%5F001%5F003%5F004&product%5Fid=15%2D889

Line lock is almost never needed when using cameras these days since DVRs and mux's automatically take care of any out of sync signals.

That is a typical overload reaction on a CCD chip. You are probably talking about a vertical streak. Not much you can do about it. What happens is the individual pixel on the chip overloads and spikes.

I grew up in Clayton and then went to Washington U. Graduated in 1970 and then moved to Los Angeles to seek my fortune and fame. Unfortunately that never happened and I ended up in the CCTV business.
-
That should solve your problem. I grew up in St. Louis. Still have lots of family there. What area do you live in?
-
If I remember correctly there is a CCTV distributor in Earth, MO SES that can get you an adapter. If you have trouble finding one let me know. Are you in St. Louis?

Look under General Digital Discussion Forum and heading "4 IP Cameras" since there are some links to NVR software that allows you to bring multiple IP cameras into one software recording and monitoring location.
