If the ddns of the dvr has a way to specify where it sends the request to then it can be used for even DYDNS it's just a matter of does it really send out any information or a "here I am" message.

Is it necessary to have an external power supply for system with 8 network (IP) cameras connected with CAT-5 line to one router? If the cameras are all PoE devices, and the switch is rated to handle that much power then you should have no problems sending power and data over the cat5/cat6 cable. Just make sure you verify the power consumption of the cameras, and the max per port and total on the switch.

There is 2 different resets. You can do the full reset or reset everything but the IP address. The 221 pdf I downloaded only lists one. What is the procedure for the full reset? Thanks.
There is two ways to perform a factory settings default.
One is the way you described with the cycle power and hold down the reset button. The other is to log into the came from a web browser and inside the Maintenance area, inside this area is an option for factory default including IP or not including IP. IF you are not the origonal owner/admin of this camera my guess is the person who had it before you performed a factory default without reseting IP and the camera would not override that until a new root password was setup.

Let me ask a few questions.
1. What are you using to view the system over the internet?
2. What software are you recording to/ dvr?
3. Have you setup port forwarding if required?

Found one..... Inscape Data makes a Outdoor 5 port POE switch.... $599 retailWhy pay so much for all that equipment? You can go with a Trendnet 4 Port poe switch and an outdoor rated enclosure and easily save $400 or more.

Just use 1 or 2 wireless repeaters or wireless routers in repeater mode. There are many great solutions out there that are easy to use. The only thing I would recommend checking from experience is that they have a removable anttena. This is because you need to put the anttena up as high as possible to maximize distance, so its a good idea to extend the length a few feet.

How many ports and what type of connection are you looking for? 10/100 or 10/100/1000?
-
Have no experience with these cameras, but based on ratings, looks, and simply the fact you want to put the camera inside, I would go with the dome style camera.
Typically domes look alot better inside. I dont think you really want a outdoor bullet type camera staring you in the face all day. It will make almost anyone paranoid after a period of time.
-
The easiest and cheapest way around this problem is simply get an outdoor enclosure and place a standard PoE swtich inside this box. This almost always will work, unless your in harsh areas. If your in hard condition areas your into a situation where you would consider possibly a heater/blower outdoor enclosure.

I am trying to look into quality solutions to convert current coax cables from analog cameras into ethernet for IP cameras using a converter of some sort. Anyone got some experience and proven results with this?
-
Typically since there isn't "harsh" weather here. I tend to use a standard wireless access point in repeater mode in an outdoor enclosure. Have some that have been running for over 3 years without a problem.

I'm giving you a link the 2100's user guide there is all you need to install the camera and trouble shoot your issues. Axis 2100 Guide

Without question the best network cameras.

If the DVR supports VGA then you have no problems should be as simple as plugging in the back just like a computer.

In responce to AK357,IEEE-802.3af states that the Power Sourcing Equipment PSE can choose either Variant A, which places power on lines 1,2,3 ,6 or Variant B lines 4,5,7,8.
A Powered Device (PD) that is IEEE-802.3af compliant must be able to accept power from both sources. Also within the IEEE-802.3 standard the PD device must accept positive or negative on either lines.
From our research we found that most Injectors and Mid spans use Variant B with Positive power on Pins 4.5 and Negative power on 7,6.
Network Switches with PoE seem to use Variant A.
Cisco also uses Variant B but with Positive power on 7,8 and Negative power 4,5.
But all this has nothing to do with the bandwidth of Ethernet per say. Yes unclean power can foster cross talk which can effect things.
james.
reviving old posts? But Your right, POE does nothing to the speed on 99% of your installs.

In IP Cameras you truely get what you pay for. If you buy cheap IP cameras your going to get cheap quality video. IF you buy mid-grade price your going to get decent quality images, if you buy top cameras (axis) your going to get superb quality. As far as the image goes, its most like that the network side of that camera isn't fully develope as it should be, because typically on a LAN your IP camera will look as good or better than analog.

Ok, I'm not sure I get what your saying well enough and I might be making silly replies here but basically heres how it would work.
192.168.1.101:8001 - DVR 1
192.168.1.102:8002 - DVR 2
Set these ports forwarded inside your modem/router like so:
Internet.IP.Address.Here:8001->192.168.1.101:8001
Internet.IP.Address.Here:8002->192.168.1.102:8002
If you need more help feel free to tell me, as my explanation may not be clear enough or over simplified.

Not sure if this meets all your needs, but this is about the best IP camera for what your looking for.
The Axis 209FD-R
(I can't link you to it because I'm under 5 posts *SIGH*)

yes, back side of the dvr has a LAN card.what i need is : suggestion for a website designer, how to link this LAN connection to my website, and then the member could monitor their cctv from other place (outside the LAN connection).
If there is a LAN connection you can always look into "Port Forwarding" to send the stream to the internet.
-
Typically there will be a link to the stream somewhere inside the DVR, from there you will have to look into if your dvr will allow you to stream that, or if you have manual code it.
-
Also be aware that Satellite internet has limited/unstable upload, and can sometimes be not enough for viewing externally depending on the area and weather conditions.
Recommendation for Equipment - CCTV over IP Network, please?

First off, what is your budget?
Second, what are you going to be doing with this system? i.e. in doors, outdoors etc..
These two questions will help people in order to understand what you need, price can change drastically due to these.
