  1. how hot is the enviroment that the dvrs are in ? heat really messes with them if its much over a certain threshold.

Where did you hear that? I have some still installed in some of the hottest locations here in the bahamas .. those things just run non stop ..

Heck i got the Kalatel 16 channel mux here in my appartment now and its left powered on in the day while im out, and lets just say .. its reeaally hot in my appt without A/C!

The hard drives will go before anything else ..

The enviromental max temp is 104 degrees F. or 40 C. as per user manual for the cbr-10cdt/cbr-16cdt/cbr-16mdt

  2. Heck, before panasonic came out with the rt line of dvr's all they could record in was CIF. That was crap. But now they have gone up one step in resolution and its about time. Pricey too. Gotta love their cams though.

not true panaonsic has had their ability to record in 4 cif for a while now.

The point my rep was making that untill recently panasonics resolution was not as important to the panasonic people as much as the bells and whistles were.

ps. rory has helped so many people here, so i wouldnt pick on him too much.

I am not picking on him. I just get sick of him dogging the icrealtime dvr when he has not even got to get his hands on one. I think its not to much to ask to give an honest review of something. Not

," use THIS and not THAT even though I have never used THAT".

Other than how he feels about it on the forum I have yet to hear any legitimate reason as to why he beats on ICrealtime like they owe him money.

Hey, why dont you demo him one for a day or two for his opinon ?

  4. When I was a general contractor building small commercial resturants I would marvel at how the electrician would use a heat blanket to bend the schedual 40 pipe for exterior underground runs. It would be a loose as a noodel and then months later when he had to come back and run the wires he used a milwakkee vacum to clear the lines then run the fish tape and wire. Its not really that hard.

  5. I am talking about the crappy picture you get out of those smoke dector cams whether its a GE or a Speco. They wash out with too much gain as they look down, any sheet of paper reflects the ambiant ceiling lite to the point of whiteing out the picture.

I wonder if you would get a Good picture taking a good box cam like a bosch or a pano 484 and putting a pinhole lense on it [lense are $$$]

So i quess the dollar amount between lense and camera would be $500.00 + , but would it make for a good picture? [ oh yea, forgot to mention the 1to 2 hours you take setting up and installing this cam into a ceiling tile thru a pin hole?

does anyone know the specific jumper settings for a cbr-pb2-ka2 probridge unit. It is to enable controlling a cyberdome Ptz remotely via wavereader thru a dvrme.

Notice the 4 jumpers far to the right and in the middle, and notice the 12 pins without any jumpers along the top. It is these that i need to know how they should be jumped or not ?

I ask this as I screwed around with the settings, setting it to a panasonic protocal at one time.

when this is hooked up the 2 utp wires from the probridge should provide the comands to move the ptz and the picture should go up the coax. any help is greatly appreicated...

  7. I have put in many covert cameras and I still think the best is the covert pin lense camera installed in a typical 2'x4' suspended ceiling panel. It is not an easy job to do right as i find it takes a couple of hours to set it up and using a minicam with a pinhole lense I find it gets too hot so I install a little cpu fan powered off the dc 12 vlt power to the cam. I glue some 1/4 inch plywood to the back of the ceiling panel so i can screw a mount for the cam and the fan. I preplan where it should be in the ceiling tile and build it off site and install after hours. If you like i could repost a post the picture from the cam once I recall how to post them on this site?

  8. Really depends upon the application. In a retail site over a counter 5 to 7 pps is good and that is in either motion or TL and or both. In spots where you only need a general oversight of the area 3 to 5 works. Unless its a casino type application why waste the storage time. My usual job needs at least one month worth of recording. This is on a wavelet compression and viewed remotely at 5pps its not jerky.

  9. I disconected the hub [which allows multiple units to hook up to your dsl router connection for remote viewing] and the other unit and ran only the one dvr. I got a little better performance but not much. I am wondering if the specific model or brand of router/modem can dramatically increase your performance in a situation where your upload speeds from the remote site are at max 900 kbps ? I currently use an actionteck router/modem on a qwest dsl line. And can you use any router/modem you like if the qwest dsl can with the actionteck router/modem?
