  1. i went to the site to check on the condition of the changes and they werent there? I would be curious to pm you the ip address and password to the dvmre ct 160-A to see if you can do anything to see changes in the AGC ? Pm me if you have the time if not, dont pm me. Again thanks you are the master. "when you can grasp the peble ... grasshopper"

  2. i did put a fan on it to cool it down as i first thought it was from overheating. But the fan didnt help and it wasnt hot after the fan. i replaced it with another simular cam as the way that i mounted it with a bracket allows easy removal and reinstall. I havent checked the wire plug connection yet as i must do this after normal bussiness hours.

    thanks again for your help.

  3. I've installed a sort of do it yourself covert cam in a acoustic ceiling panel for a retail install to look directly down in your typical retail setting with 2'x4' flouresant lite panels in the ceiling, ect. Well, after the install the picture became way too bright or white. I suspected afterwards it got too hot and later put a computer cooling fan next to it to cool it down. The picture will occasinally turn good or color balanced for a moment then revert back.

the cam is a one inch by one inch, Weldex digital color ultra minature camera 1/4" draws only 100 milia amps, 420 tvl, o.5 min illumination, powered off a regulated power supply. with a pinhole lense. I did white out the metal surrounding the lense so to conceil the tiny hole better. Must say it was a lot of work routering out the wood behind the ceiling panel for the cam and then drilling the ceiling tile for the pinhole lense.

the coax run is only 50' . any ideas?

  4. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i have a couple of ge dvmre ct320-A units at various sites and only at this one site do i have this problem. I should mention that the dsl line provider is Mcloed instead of Quest at the other 2 sites. I have swapped the dvr's around sites but only at this one site the audio chops out just for a fraction of a second when you go to playback remotely. Also you can watch the seconds skip a second while this is on playback. If you mute the audio the seconds go smoothly 1234567..... this is with the wave reader program and yes i have the camera on time lapse at 3fps. Its just maddening. these units do stream playbaack with audio and i showed it to a ge teck who said it couldnt. I should mention if you save the recordings to a file then it will audio playback fine. the ge teck thinks maybe it is in the dsl line? the line in question does upload at 385kbps and that must be plently i would think? any thoughts would be welcome? thanks, joe.

  5. i had my local rep come over and demo the vcc-wd8574 a year ago and it was really impressive in low light and normal conditions. the price seemed better than comparable cams in its respective price point.

  6. in the real world of cctv cams the best are always 50db > however some that pretend to be 50 db can still be lousy for example the speco indoor dome something like the hr616? says its 50 db but its really poor in picture quality and resolution. in short you get what you pay for as the specos were not more than [$..... cant say] but they were cheep.

  7. I have 2 different sites with the same Kalatel dvrme 16ct-A 320 gb and when at one location the audio cuts off and on with each increment of time going by [seconds] I should mention that at the site that the audio cuts out you can see that the seconds do not go by smoothly and every 3 or so seconds it skips a second,,, ? I have swaped the units and it happens only at the one site? Granted the offending site upload speed is only 385 kbps and the good site is almost T-1 or 1000 kbps. However the wavereader files are well below the 385 kb site as they are around 30-50kb by default? This is with a Loure Audio Kit for one channel that uses the db9 connection off the rear of the dvrme. You can actually see the seconds go by and hear it cut out for a second or fraction thereof.

Puzzeled Again?> Additionally these units do remote streaming of playback audio dispite the ge tecks saying it shouldn't. I have had Dave at ge support see it remotely and he was surprized.

  8. GE has a smoke detector camera with up to 4 internal high resolution cameras. .

I dont know about the cams being high resolution because the only way 4 cams fit into the covert GE smoke dector is if you use their low res cams that are about 1.25 inches deep. If you use the good high res cams that come with the upgrade kit,[sD-1500] the size is more like twice as deep with the lense. Because of that you will only be able to fit 2 cams into the smoke dector housing. Your supposed to be able to fit 4 sideways and 1 down for a 360 degree view, but no way with any decent cams. The housing at its smallest diameter is only 3.5 inches. I quess nobody really cared whether it worked well or not.

  9. When GE says that the wave jet doubles the recording time in meduim resolution I am thinking that the same does not apply in the highest resolution? Also, the newer series like storesafe and the storesafe pro and pro II all suport remote streaming audio? But only the DVMRe does playback with audio without haveing to save it to a file first? [remotely]

  10. I notice that the only GE DVR that supports being archived by the SCSI Port or Firewire is the one they are going to discontinue the DVMRe Triplex?

They are also discontinueing the ability to get extra caddies to hold the removeable harddrives for the symdec.

On another GE note i found out why the symdec hybred DVR does not function remotely well. It uses or needs 2.2 Mg upload speed at the site for one channel 30fps at D1. Its a total bandwidth hog.

  11. Its a sad day for those who love the dvmre ct......

This is a email from GE.....

    Other specific changes include:

DVMRe CT II digital recorder with the New WaveJet Compression replaces DVMRe CT

DSR digital recorder product line reduced to three models

VDR digital recorder to be discontinued

KTR-11 and KTR-90 series face badge readers to be discontinued (Nov. 2007)
