    Video roll. Help needed

for the price, its not worth fixing, just buy another one! But, I would look into a better camera. That looks like an ARM type camera and they aren't all that great, especially @ 330/420 lines of resolution. I don't really see how this camera is even all that effective. Check out the Extreme EX82 dual sensor camera! http://www.extremecctv.com/product_detail.php?product_id=32

    DVD / Record Store

Don't go with wireless cameras, be sure to run hardwired covert cameras. You'll be happy you did and your client will thank you for it.

    KT&C Warranty Period?

We've installed some KT&C. There products are decent, the only camera we use from them is the KPC-N600 series bullet with IR MECH cut filter. Its a good camera for the money. However, we asked for a 24V AC camera and recieved 12V DC. We had them replace them with 24V AC and they shipped 12V DC cameras inside 24V AC marked housings.....it was a bit frustrating for both us and our client. It has been worked out. They also seem to be very sensitive to power. I would try to power the cameras your having problems with locally and see if this helps with any issues. Or maybe removing the Speco cameras from the power supply and see if that changes anything. Overall, they are a budget orientated camera. I am curious to see how the new N600 WDR bullet works out.

    Wire question

I don't know about you guys but I don't pay for cable, my clients do! Copper prices fluctuate and my customers are aware of this. I get most of my cable from SCP (Structured Cable Products) www.scpcat5e.com

    Cameras

There older stuff was good, I'm not too happy with the new "easyview" series, especially the CMOS sensors in the wide dynamic domes. I have replaced all recent nuvico camera installs with panasonic equipment and my clients were more than happy to see the change.

    ARM Electronics Catalog

ARM doesn't manufacture a thing. I would stay away from them if you want to stay in business. Their tech support blows, their products are cheap, and they are usually not worth the money. If you have a job using ARM equipment, make sure to order 40% more equipment to compensate for DOA. But, some basics are ok like stated above, the quads are ok, the DVR's are nothing to be impressed about. Just remember, you get what you pay for!
  14. 10 fps @ 1600x1200 @ 12 Hours Day on 720gb for one month seems far fetched... Just wondering if you are getting this information from manufacturers, tests, calculators, etc? PS - I'm not arguing, just inquiring

I hate working with new sales people.

It happens, all we can do is educate! But don't hire buddies and always get a techs opinion on a job. Tell your salesman to take pictures, especially if he is new!

    Ground loop

Just ran into this problem the other day, thanks to Isaac and his expert knowledge, we solved the problem in 5 minutes. We had wavy lines from bottom to top, isaac said ground loop, my tech said no way, isaac said check the camera, pulled the camera from the housing, sure enough, there it was! The camera surface mount adapter was grounding the camera to the steel beam it was mounted to. We used nylon bolts and washer to isolate the mount from the steel beam! Camera: Panasonic WV-CW484S Power Supply: P3 24V AC, 16 Out, 25 Amp 800 Foot Home Run Cable, plastic zip ties (no breaks in the line anywhere) Thanks Isaac!

    ARKANSAS SURVEILLANCE GONE WILD

First of all, I don't know how you can call my "Business Trip" wild....but lets just recap on the trip...your trip to be exact! Although your trip started successful winning the slot machines You then immediately got a bit greedy and quickly lost it at the roulette table, and couldn't stop playing the only machine that pays, the ATM. And NO isaac, the roulette spin wheel was not off axis. So after losing all your money, you had to find a way to raise some funds to get home. It seems there happened to be an XBOX convention going on and what do you know, they needed a stand in for Gears of War. But I'm very surprised they offered you the job showing up like this. But after all else fails, when you gotta get home, you gotta get home. So it wasn't out of your league earn some extra money crop dusting it home! Just watch out for those funnel clouds. All in all, I think my trip was pretty tame!
  19. I've been using other PC Based systems lately and finally got turned on to Netpromax. The interface is cool, 99% controlled with a mouse. I had an application that required a mouse interface so this was perfect. The video is good, compression is great, records in 4 CIF no problem, motion recording was incredible compared to others. And the case it came in was outstanding! So far so good. I ran the machine a few days in my shop and it was fun to use. My client is playing with it now and will be "beta" testing it for me and him of course. I'll keep you posted, but so far its two thumbs up! They have a killer return policy too so I encourage you to try them out. The systems come pre-configured and they are using great components inside the box.

    NETPROMAX Is My Hero

well solid as a rock so far. I've dealt with fair number of PC based systems and this thing is prefabbed with cool features, solid components, great cases, and killer manufacturer support...........all of that equals solid as a rock! I've got a pretty extensive client working on it right now and he is very pleased with performance and simplicity! Sometimes a happy client is the most important! I will of course update with progress reports on performance!

    Crimp on or Twist on?

I just ordered the new Push on BNC Compression from Ideal Industries! They were pretty solid from what I could play with at ISC West! But, normally we use twist ons for our DIY customers and our Techs use Compression.

    Taxi Cab Camera

The bus system in vegas has cameras on them and when the police cars are next to them, they can tap into the video feed and view activity as needed! I would imagine there is something similar for the taxi service there! Not sure what brand product they are using...
