    GeoVision Remote Internet Viewing

Hi. I'm using v8.2 of Geovision. I connect remotely to the server via Internet explorer, and using a netbook running XP. Unfortunately, the max resolution on my netbook is 1024X600, but remote MultiView (allowing me to view multiple cams simultaenously) will not work at anything less that 1024*768. Therefore, since I'm stuck with viewing one cam at a time, is there a way to set it so that it shows each different cam on a rotating basis (cam1 for 2 seconds, then cam2 for 2 seconds, then cam3 for 2 seconds...etc)? By the way, does this resolution restriction also apply when viewing remotely using GeoVision's own standard RemoteView application? Thanks,

What Geovision management needs to know....

Having done a very thorough research in PC based DVR systems, it became obvious to me that GeoVision is still considered to be the Gold Standard of DVR cards. There is a reason they have been the market leader for so many years. However, in my opinion, they don't seem to have responded well to the improvements made by their competitors such as AverMedia, etc. While their competitors are making an effort to improve their software year after year, GeoVision's Software package appears to be getting more bloated than anything else. A lot of people are waiting to see if Ver 8.3 is going to be a step function improvement in the quality of software, or just another bunch of bug fixes and patches.

    Quick Question adding IP camera

Wow, that seems like a rather silly restriction of the software. Hope the intention isn't to force you into buying an 8-ch card.

    GV-2004

I want a 4-channel PC based DVR system. I was thinking of using the GV-2004 H.264 card. If the PC is based on a Core 2 Duo with 2GB RAM, is the GV-2004 overkill? Will the overall performance of the DVR be indistinguishable from a lower end GeoVision card? My requirements are that the system be able to record at least 10FPS at 800X640 resolution, and at minimum 10FPS per channel (4 channels total). I also require remote viewing via the internet 24X7 (likely at a slower frame rate) , while simulataenously being able to display to the local monitor at full frame rate. Also, does the video card processing power influence the performance of the system (for local viewing) in a significant way? I was thinking standard onboard video will suffice, but maybe I'm wrong? The second issue i'm having is that (in reading these message boards), there appears to be plently of hardware related issues relating to GeoVision cards. As long as we meet the system requirements, why can't we expect the system to work properly? Why do there appear to be so many potential conflicts with these capture cards and the motherboard chipsets, video card, sound cards, and whatever else? Isn't GeoVision supposed to be the "Gold Standard" of capture cards? Do they not test there cards for Interoperability? Are we just supposed to plug-and-pray?
