  1. Hi

From what i've read it seems that ip cameras have a connection to an RJ45, If this is the case, if i was to use a network cable and have the RJ45 connected at one end, and on the other connect a CCTV Balun with a BNC on

would I then be able to connect an ip camera to a DVR (on a pc) and if thats possible would I still be able to use the IP functionality of the camera?

    Thanks for your help.

  2. Hi

New UK user, found this place on google, seems to have a wealth of knowledge here, Quiet new to CCTV but am thinking of getting into it more as several friends seem to come to me for advice about it.

  3. Can anyone advise me on the following.

I'm going to install a PCI DVR card in a computer, A 4 channel card would be fine.

The question I have is that I want the cameras to be accessed by cable as well as IP. I am planning to use cat 5 with cctv baluns.

the reason been is I want all the DVR functionality however I also want to be able to access the cameras from windows media center. The plugin mcenetcam allows you to view cctv cameras but it must be done via ip.

Can the dvr software assign ip's to individual cameras so I can then access them in media center.

    Any advice appreciated. thanks

  4. Hi all

Hope you can help. I've just installed a kodicom 4400 card that was purchased off ebay, it came with drivers for kodicom center 4.11 and kodicom site 4.11.

I've installed both software and can load the center, however i dont get any sort of display from the cameras, i believe i need to install the site program so I can "assign" all the cameras.

I installed the site program however it just hangs when loading.

The computer is an Intel core 2 duo 2.1Ghz, 2Gb Ram, 4Tb Hard drives, Nvidia 7600GT pci-e graphics card. It meets the minimum spec for the card however it hangs,

The computer is a fresh install of windows xp media center.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks
