SMTP setup?

Recommended Posts

I finally got my Geovision card after lurking here for a while and got it up and running.

I'm having problem setting up my email notification. For some reason I can't get the SMTP to work on Gmail or with my ISP (Comcast).

If someone has either of these 2 mail servers working could you please post the server address and port info please?

Thanks,

Kevin

You're using the right SMTP correct? Doublecheck that and for GMAIL... checkout these two links.

In my original post I tried to include the server and port information but this server won't let me post addresses so I'll see if I can include them here.

I used the same Comcast server that was listed in your first link smtp, comcast, net on port 110 but it doesn't work.

Interestingly I cant ping that server. I get a request timed out every time.

On the Gmail server (same as the one in your second link), I can ping it, but I can't seem to connect via Geovision (ver 8.2) using both port 465 or 587.

I have disabled my firewall(Comodo) and antivirus (AVG) when trying to connect to these servers.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help.

Here are the settings for Comcast:

the server is smtp. comcast. net

The port is 587

The email from needs to be our full email address

check the box for SMTP server requires authentications.

For the account, use the part of your email address before "at comcat dot net"

and put in the password.

Hope thisa helps.
