Can I use 3rd Party Software to allow Remote CCTV viewing on

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a Digia – 4 DVR, which is made by GE Security.

I have just learned how to use their client software (Digia Client version 1.1.4) to view my 4 security cameras over the internet from a remote location.

The client software isn’t very good and the remote playback is effectively useless because it cannot cope with viewing more than 1 camera at a time. Additionally, the software no longer supported (and effectively wasn’t in the first place).

Using Client Software is also inconvenient from the point of view that it needs to be installed and configured on each and every remote PC you want to use.

Does anyone know if it is possible to use 3rd party software/applications in order to view my cameras using just Internet Explorer? Preferably something that is stable and will allow both live viewing and playback viewing.

Thanks………..

Does the DVR have a web interface or must you use the client software to log in?

I don't know of any universal DVR clients.

You could use a 4 channel video server for the remote viewing and still use the DVR for recording.
