Nuvico EV-4000 vs. AVerMedia 1304NET SATA+

Recommended Posts

Yes, I’m a newbie to DVR’s and need some experienced advice,

I’ve been researching standalone 4 channel DVR systems (DVR & Day/Night Cameras) a couple of weeks now using various vendor websites and this forum. This will be a home use (DIY) project with a small budget (~$1500 or less). Remote viewing and playback is an important feature for me.

I’ve narrowed my search down to two DVR’s that I think may meet my needs. I was hoping I could get everyone’s opinion (pros & cons) and suggestion on each on them.

AVerMedia 1304NET SATA+

Nuvico EV-4000

AVerMedia:

I’ve read good reviews about the 1304 but I don’t like the fact that it doesn’t provide masking for the Motion Detection. I think the software could use some work to be more user friendly but I could get past that. The manual definitely needs some work but I think I could get past that as well (especially with this forum).

Nuvico:

I can’t seem to find any reviews on the EV-4000. But the specs appear to be really close to the 1304. The software seems to be very user friendly. The manual is well written. It does provide some masking for the motion detection (although I wish it provided more resolution). I like the built in DVD burner and the fact that it writes the video viewer to the DVD with the video’s you want to save. Is the remote viewing comparable with the AVerMedia 1304?

Of course if anyone has other recommendations other than to two I’ve mentioned, I’m open for suggestions.

Thanks in advanced,

Dave

I cannot speak on the 1304 but the Nuvico is a nice unit and the size is compact enough to be able to place it almost anywhere.

Nuvico is a little more expensive and well built with DVD+nice software

The only thing I see 1304 better at is in the picture quality and it does have motion detection
