what has been people's experience with nas boxs - there are a lot of them out there - buffalo, adaptec, aberdeen, overland, etc

 

processor speed needs to be there to no drop sequences - ie video

You don't really need a ****-ton of processor power on a NAS. Embeded units for small personal LANs might be a bit underpowered for 32+ channels or 16+ megapixel cams but anything intended for enterprise use should have more then enough horsepower.

I have used buffalo dives before and they work good (2TB total storage). I never thought processor power was an issue either.

 

I'm not sure of the other NAS but Buffalo worked great.
