I have just installed a new digital watchdog ptz, along with a new digital watchdog dvr. When I pan, the camera looses video most of the time. Then when I stop the camera has to focus and I regain video.

This is my first time installing a ptz.

The camera sets 75 ft from the power supply, I have powered the cam with 18/2, and I am using cat5 for the rs485. I have tried a different power supply with the same results.

Any ideas.

ps I am new the the site and want to say hello, and thank you in advance for any help.

What power supplies are you using? 12VDC or 24VAC? If DC, are the regulated? What current rating?

What current capacity are they? Chances are, it's not enough for the cameras - once the motor fires up, the voltage drops, and the camera resets.

I am not 100% sure. I think the arms security box is rated at 4 watts. I will call where I bought them to find out. The cam is duel voltage, Should I try a 24vac power supply with a higher watt.

What does it usually take to power a ptz with a heater and fan.

The book says the cams rated power is AC 24v(23w) / DC 12v(26w).

It does sound like the power supply is not up to the job. Try getting higher rated power supply.
