dome colours too much **pics**

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Is this pic any good? the colouring seems wrong, the yellows are too yellow,

the brick red seems to be too much and theres a rainbow on the back right roof

which isnt actually there.

its a ptz dome, the camera is a sony fcb-ex480cp using a gv800 with 720x576, pal_b,

1024x768 screen res, with the camera settings of

slowshutter, icr shot, iris, focus and wb set all too auto, BL off.

The brightness/contrast/sat/hue etc are all on 128 default.

The pic is taken from its furthest zoom.

Its rg59 sia coax, with cat5 as signal over prob 15 meters.

The previous dome was lower spec with better pic, but was the same build type

dome where i just untwisted the old head and put the new one in, and altered the

dip switches to the same...

The previous allowed me to alter day/night mode on the cameras menu once inside the 64 preset menu,

but this one doesnt allow me into the menu at all.

the guy who sold me the camera says its the below spec...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270577008821

1/4" SONY EX-view CCD

520 TVL resolution

Minimum Illumination 0.01 Lux (F1.4) ICR on.

Switches to monochrome at less than 2 Lux using IR cut filter.

>50dB signal to noise ratio

4.1mm to 73.8 zoom lens

I dont have this problem with the other dome.

This pic just seems poor for any type of camera.

I dont see where he lists the actual model of the camera.

You say he claims it is a Sony, does it say Sony on it? If not, probably isnt.

Going by the Sony model you posted, that is not a Sony PTZ, it is a sony Block Zoom camera, which allows OEM manufacturers to make their own Zoom or PTZ cameras using Sony parts. Also it lists it as 0.7 lux but says nothing of Day Night. Exview was common to switch to a BW mode, not always with an ICR though the specs claim it has it, BUT that may be dependent on country as the specs also list. Although I have used Exview in the past and 0.01 is common with an Exview True Day Night, without slow shutter!

Additionally, the IR Cut Filter may not be working, I have had that before on a brand new camera. Without the IR cut filter during the day the colors can look washed out. Although I cant say for sure if that is the problem in this case.

Can you reset the camera to defaults?

If not, another thing it might just be a bad camera.

To me the colors dont look that bad. It looks like alot of Glare for the UK though

How is the AGC setting? Does it even have one?

One thing for certain is I would disable the Slow Shutter feature completely.

Also, have you checked the camera directly without connecting it to the DVR, if so how were the colors then?

Point the camera to the sky (not directly at the sun), if it is all glare and you cant see anything, you need to adjust the IRIS.

Overall, I am not unhappy with the image, I havent seen those red brick homes in years now

Hi ,

The Camera module you mention is Genuine SONY FCB-EX480CP. It is a Day Night Module but has a resolution of 480TVL. The camera parameters are configurable on the module. Your PTZ housing should allow access to these options via some high level interface.

As to the picture, it looks like a good picture. You will find the rainbow colours will disappear as you zoom-in. Reason for the rainbow effect is due to contrasting colours and bright light.
