What kind of wire for video out?

Recommended Posts

I bought a used samsung snc-550

The video out almost looks like a coax cable connector

What kind of wire do i use for the video out to connect it to either a computer or tv

Thank you in advance for answering such a newbie question

Your camera has a BNC connector on it. A TV would have a RCA connector. Your computer if it has a single capture channel on the video card or tuner would usually be a RCA also.

So you need a BNC to RCA, RG59 coax cable.

Actually any good coax cable...

I ended up running RG6 Quad Shield on the advice of a prewire book (http://www.bocsco.com/prewireyourhome.zip ) and it turns out that I got more distance with less noise.

Clearly it is not a result of the increased frequency performance of the RG6, my bet is that the double shield is what helped.

Anyone seen a comparison of RG59/RG6 for non-modulated video?
