Hey Guys,

I am an IT professional.

I am suppose to setup CCTV and do Live internet broadcasting of an event for my church.

We have two halls.

one hall were the main even will take place and second where I want to setup a projector which will get feed from the cameras operting in the main hall.

the main hall is 15 meters long.

I have got no idea at all how to go for it.

I have 2 laptops with best configuration.

2 very good handycams.

But not sure what all I need to fullfill what i want.

 

What cables or hardware devices are required.

 

I am ready to spend money on this function.

and If few things are really very costly then will hire those.

can You please advise me how it works and what things I should look for.

This is an excellent site to get started. They are pretty much the leaders in internet video products and have servers that will interface with your existing equipment as well as fully integrated server/cameras.

Let me try to clarify what you are trying to do.

 

Are you trying to do real CCTV applications like monitoring, or recording? Are you trying to do web casting of the sermon?

I want to do real CCTV,like...

setup two cameras in one hall and then setup one projector in another hall.

secondly, put the feed coming from cameras to internet as well.

prady, busy right now ... but i can help with some info

 

DVR with a DSP RCA output. This lets you run an RCA cable from the DVR to the Projector to give you high quality real time video.

 

Thing is ... 2 cameras only ..? How many videos do you want on the 1 projector? There is a Pelco device that splits the video into 2, but its not great. Depends what you want to do, or see.

 

The DVR will allow streaming over the internet.

 

Best streaming though would be from using an IP or Hybrid System, like Axis, or Video Insight. Especially if your main concern is streaming video, which in your case looks like you want to broadcast the video? though you probably will have issues with the local video to the projector, quality, if using Axis. Video Insight may help in this case, which is Thomas by the way, see if they offer a DSP card.

 

Covi camera is another thing to look at, though you may not be able to get it on that side of the globe yet, its still fairly new over here. It has coax as well as Ip outputs.

Ive never used a projector for CCTV video so cant comment on quality. Ive used Plasmas and LCDs though and normally they are great, but they are different from a projector.

 

Lastly, you could use existing camcorders (handy cams), and just plug them into either a DVR or a Video Server ...

I am not restriciting to projector only.

I can use TV/LCD/PLASMA anything.

I need good quality output.

I want to show only one output at projecttor/lcd

but I want to be able to control which one of two goes to LCD/TV.

and want to choose which one goes to live-stream as well.

Which DVR card do u think I should opt for?

secondly, my handycam gives me AV output and s-video output.

which one should I use.

as Venue is 11-12 meters long. SO I will need the cable to be able to carry the signal to this distance.

depends on what input the projector has ...

 

im sure one of them will match, at least the Svideo.

 

It gets a little more complicated with the rest of your needs, as for switching between the signals, for local and remote. For a PC monitor would just use a KVM switch, not sure what can be done for the projector, but im sure it is something easy I just cant think of right now this time of night ...

 

Ill wait and see what Thomas comes back with, or the others, and either way think about it tomorrow and come back with some ideas ... its 2.15 am here ..

If projector gives complications then i am more than happy to go with TV or LCD...

by switching , I mean, I can show one camera to LCD at one time and show second after some time..

depending upon which feed I want to send to LCD...

 

and same for streaming...

hope I am not making it more complicated to understands...

Now this is I think how it should work..

two cameras will feed to AVS 5430.

AVF5430 will come up with output say OUTPUT 1 and OUTPUT 2.

OUTPUT 1 will be directly fed to DVR card as AVS5430 will be sitting quite near to computer which will do live streaming.

OUTPUT 2 will be fed to VDA 4 , which will give me 4 outputs, this will be used to display whats being selected from AVS5430 to OUTPUT at 2.

 

and all the TVs( I wanted 2 but this will let me use even 4) will see same thing.

 

I think there is no problem with this scheme.

but I am not sure , as I am not an expert in this field, so please help me out and let me know if u think there is flaw or loophole in this scheme.`

You need the 2nd camera to show on 4 screens?

A web server connects to the internet and streams live video without a pc.

it has inputs for video, do a google search.

 

All you need for the switching between two camera's is a basic video switcher, you can buy manual versions or remote control versions,quite cheaply.

With a 1 in 2 out amp thats all you need. Quality will come from the camera's so go for the best.

it will give me only one output.

Dude that will work ... hats off to CCTV Australia ...

 

Yes, so you can then switch the outputs from the switcher to whichever one you want to show at any time on the web .. since that DVRs Video input will always be activated.

 

Ofcourse with this, you can only ever view 1 camera at a time ... on the TV/Monitors or online .. .but you can switch between them seperately.

I have some other confusions in my mind as well.

I started streaming on DVR.. and then I swicth the output going to DVR.. Will it break the signal for some time , will it affect DVR, I mean, will DVR try to start recording again after the output is switched.

secondly, does DVR record both audio and voice?

You can set it to "Always record" instead of motion, then it will record no matter whether the camera looses video or not. It will only loose video for as long as you have the video off that channel. Only having 1 channel you can do this and still get alot of recording. If you are going to use the 720x480 record quality which is the highest, then you would need quite a bit of Hard Disk Drive space, but good thing with PC DVRs you can easily add this later.

 

As for audio. Ive never used audio with the PC DVRs yet, but actually hooking up one tomorrow It will record the input on the PCs Sound Card, what ever it is.

will do .... ive done it with GE stand alones before and it worked good, except was a stand alone not a PC DVR card ... will find out .. should be as good or better though as thats where PC cards shine also.

 

Im using a ceiling mount CCTV microphone so it wont exactly be Stereo, so I cant comment on that side of it.

 

For a church though, I dont think you are looking to spend the money required for broadcasting quality video and audio (tens of thousands of $$)... so this should all work out fine for what you need to do ..
