Hi,

We are due to move house soon and I’d like to setup a new home CCTV system. I am an IT Director so have a good IP technology background. Ideally I’m looking for the follow and would love some advice and suggestions. My budget is quite high - I'm happy to spend between £200-£400 per camera if required.

1. 4 outdoor POE cameras (fixed dome type)

2. A better than average quality – I assume something like 1MP should do?

3. Most importantly – be able to record constantly and directly to a networked 4TB hard disk – not to a standalone PC.

All of this would be connected to a POE switch and ADSL wireless router. I’d like to be able to constantly record the feeds, access them directly from the disk via my laptop.

I’ve seen the vivotek models but they won’t record directly to a standalone networked disk

Any suggestions?

You should look into Brickcom IP based cameras. I've installed a few for clients of mine and saw that they could record directly to a network attached storage device like in your setup. I've never tested this feature of the Brickcom cameras though so I can't really vouch for its functionality. However in terms of image quality Brickcom's 1MP cameras produce a very sharp high quality image. You may end up spending a little more then £400 though.
