Need to be licensed in PA to install cctv systems?

Recommended Posts

Hello all, new to the forum.

I currently run a small Apple consulting firm( Macintosh computers & software), but I am trying to get into the cctv business as well. I have installed a few cctv systems, and know the in's and out's pretty good. I enjoyed doing the installs, and would like to get into it more, My question is do I have to be licensed in PA to install and design cctv for residential and/or business clients? I looked all over the web, and Pennsylvania's state website, but could not find a clear answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated

... Also does anyone recommend certifications, such as NAAA's?. Or are they just a waste of time?

Thanks for any help.

John

For residential yes http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/hic.aspx

Businesses you do not for the state. But some townships and city's might.

Where are you located at and what gear do you plan on selling?

Thanks for the response. I'm in Lower Bucks County, and plan on doing the majority of the work around here. I haven't really thought about exactly what systems I would offer, but it would vary depending on what the customer wants to spend.
