Black & White CCTV New Monitor Problems

Recommended Posts

Hello,

We have one camera feeding three monitors (philips) they are all daisy chained to each other so if you tunr of the first one the others will cease to function.

Basically the middle of the two monitors went bang and we purchased a new monitorm the new one has BNC connectors and the old one had RCA/Phono connectors so we also have two BNC/RCA converters.

Bascially if you plug the new monitor into the old ones place the picture is perfect unitl you connect the final monitor to the back of it then the picture on the middle one goes very dark but the picture on the last one is perfect! If you move the new monitor so its the last one in the series it goes dark again!

Someone has suggested impedance someone else mentioned signal strength.

Can anyone suggest what this might be?

Thanks

Hi eric_clapp,

The most likely reason for your problem is that the "Termination Switch" on the rear of your new monitor is set to the wrong position.

If you use the new monitor in the middle of the two old units, you will have to slide the termination switch from '75 Ohm' to position 'High'. If the monitor was used at the end of the "chain", in other words a video input connected but no output cable, then the switch would need to be set to '75 Ohm'.

Give it a go, and if you still have a problem, we'll have to come up with some other suggestions.
