Recommended Posts

turn it off?

i just won this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3089545003&category=48839&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBWN%3AIT&rd=1

and i cant find anything on this at all...can anyone here give me a hand? im new at this stuff, and only doing it for personal enlightenment and such. any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

also, im looking for cheap cctv bits, just about anything cool and cheap...specifically text inserters, heated/blower outdoor housings, ptz controls, ptz heads (not domes, those dont really interest me so much..)..anytihng like that. its hard to come by used stuff online, excpet on ebay...and it seems like resellers and installers manage to snap everything up before anyone else gets a chance. :]

Thanks a lot, goodluck.

That is part of an old discontinued Vicon pan & tilt dome system. I'm afraid it won't do you much good without the controller, dome, camera, etc.

You might want to give the local Richardson Electronics in your area a call since they have a lot of old Vicon equipment laying around and may be able to help you out. What area do you live in?

wow awesome - like i said, heated/blower outdoor housings are needed (it gets cold in minnesota!), outdoor ptz heads, indoor ptz heads (domes are ok, but id rather not use them if i can avoid it...this is for my house and i think domes can look a bit menacing) zoom lenses, and power supplies (are australian power and US power the same?)...anytihng like that. can you get me a list of what you have, or is there somewhere i can go or something? chances are, if its neat looking or serves a purpose, i can use it. unique stuff is a plus, as is things with good support.

Thanks a lot, i really appreciate your fast response.

yes, i know its a dome :] i needed a dome for my basement, for which a dome is nice suited. the rest of my house is much...brighter, and a big nasty black dome is just not right. i need to know where i can get a 15" omniscan housing, or anytihng else that will fit it. i like to know how these things work so i can repair them, so technical documents would be nice, too ;]

Thanks

Cullen

no, i havent. do you mean something like flush mount or someitnhg like having them in the ceiling with a piece of whatever in front of them, thus hiding the dome?

is the spotlight camera ptz? ive seen those, and they would fit nicely. one mroe thing - im looking to put a camera on my back porch...what sort of housing, if any, should i use? the porch is screened, which means if its humid outside, its humid in the porch. if its raining out, a bit of rain gets in (this ouwld be ceiling mounted, though)...would just a normal outdoor housing be alright or should i get one with a blower? would i need a weatherproof ptz head or not?

sorry for all the questions, but you guys dont seem to mind TOO much

Thanks

Cullen

The Ptz will need to be housed, ....the heat will attract the elements, for your porch camera, I would use a wedge mounted housing with a built in heater, you can get them with windscreen wipers as well.
