Using Swann DVRs-can NTP be turned on and off at will?

Recommended Posts

Hello. I am using a Swann DVR-4000. I am interested in using the NTP server function to always maintain the time, but the manual says not to use NTP with DST. Will NTP change the time when DST starts and ends? If not, is there a way to turn off NTP when DST adjustments come around?

The only options I see with NTP are Sync and Apply. I haven't touched either of those yet.

Thanks.

That is crazy talk! If you use a decent NTP server, it will handle the dang DST adjustments for you!

0.pool.ntp.org

1.pool.ntp.org

2.pool.ntp.org

use those!

Thank you for that info.

Ok, so presently the setup is as follows:

NTP Server: pool.ntp.org

NTP Port: 123

So looking at the information you gave me, if I start adding additional DVRs, should I do the setup like below?

DVR #1

NTP Server: 0.pool.ntp.org

NTP Port: 123

DVR#2

NTP Server: 1.pool.ntp.org

NTP Port: 123

Thanks. I finally got my other DVR and set both of them to use NTP; same ports and all. I appreciate the help on this.
