Using outdoor cameras in cold weather??

Hi,

 

My camera is rated to -5 c, the weather around here can get to 5f (colder than -5c). What will happen to the camera if it is run outside its specs? Does it freeze & never work, or does it not work well in situations under -5c?

 

Does it do damage having it outdoors past that point?

I have used cheap x10 cameras before in temps below zero with windchill, and they never had a problem. I'm sure if they can hold up, other cameras made much better will hold up also.
