Night Owl Poseidon-85 Motion-Only Recording

We have a Night Owl Poseidon-85 8-channel DVR system and in an effort to maximize recording history, I have it set for recording based on Time Schedule instead of Continuous and for the schedule, the entire grid is set for MOTION. I have all 8 channels set like this, and I have the sensitivity set to the lowest (1); however all the channels record ALL the time. Some of the channels are in rooms that have absolutely no movement and these things record around the clock. The problem is that it only gives us two weeks of history. I called Night Owl and they suggest we replace the unit, which of course, is out of warranty. The unit functions fine otherwise and I would prefer to see if there is something we are missing.
